Job Summary: As a Private Process Server, you will be responsible for delivering legal documents to individuals or entities in a timely, respectful, and lawful manner. You will play a key role in the legal process, ensuring that documents are served accurately and on time. The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable in local, state, and federal rules and regulations for serving legal papers, possess excellent communication skills, and have a strong sense of discretion and integrity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve legal documents, including summonses, complaints, subpoenas, and other court orders, in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Locate recipients using investigative and background research methods when necessary.
- Document all service attempts and outcomes accurately and promptly in our tracking system.
- Provide regular updates and detailed reports to clients, maintaining professionalism and confidentiality at all times.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of local and state process-serving laws and procedures.
- File affidavits or other required documentation with the appropriate court, as needed.
- Act with integrity, respect, and professionalism when interacting with recipients and clients.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional legal or law enforcement training is a plus.
- Previous experience as a Process Server, law enforcement officer, or in a similar role is preferred.
- Understanding of state and local laws regarding process serving.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Reliable vehicle, valid driver’s license, and clean driving record.
- Ability to handle sensitive and potentially confrontational situations professionally and calmly.
- Flexible availability, including evenings and weekends, as necessary.
- Proficiency in using smartphones, GPS, and online tracking/reporting software.
