Our Connecticut division, located in Shelton, CT, seeks a Press Operator.
Summary
The Press Operator is at the core of the fineblanking process, producing stamped parts by setting up and operating press machines. The successful candidate will be committed to the highest level of integrity, trust and responsibility and bring a hands-on approach to day to day operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform press operations in accordance with the job instructions.
- Assist with “first piece” and “last piece” inspections.
- Stacking or filling parts into the tote pans as required.
- Maintain production levels in accordance with the job instructions.
- Perform quality checks as per inspection instructions and inform Manager of quality issues.
- Operate uncoiler/straightener.
- Communicate with Manager about problem areas and deficiencies, so corrective actions may be taken.
- Recommend improvement in Fineblanking methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions.
- Assist team leaders and team members in evaluating and implementing continuous improvement projects.
- Assist with the training of new press operators as required.
- Attend training activities as required.
- Participate in continuous improvement teams as required.
- Participate in safety and OSHA training.
- Keep work area clean and tidy at all times.
- Work in an organized manner with attention to details.
- Compliance with attached Safety Expectations.
- Accurate recording of time including time-clock, job activities, and other data entry.
- Regular and punctual attendance at work.
- Compliance with relevant policies, procedures and instructions, including Code of Conduct.
Qualifications, Education and Experience
- Ability to read measuring devises (micrometers, bore gauges, drop indicators).
- Able to read and write in English.
- Able to perform simple arithmetic.
- Knowledge of English and Metric Systems of measurement.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety standards.
- Knowledge of basic Statistical Process Control (SPC).
- Ability to read blueprints.
- Ability to use Allen wrenches, adjustable wrenches and screwdrivers.
- Ability to recognize and understand Globally Harmonized Hazard Identification.
