Position Overview:
We seek a dedicated and experienced Wound Care Quality Coordinator with a strong nursing, risk management, and wound care chart audit specialist background to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be crucial in supporting patients through their healthcare journeys, addressing concerns, managing care plans, and ensuring our organization maintains the highest standards of quality, safety, and compassion. This role requires exceptional leadership, emotional intelligence, and the ability to inspire a culture of patient-centered care and teamwork.
Key Responsibilities
- Billing and Coding Quality and Accuracy: Ensure that all billing and coding processes are performed accurately and in compliance with SOPs, reduce the risk of errors and rejections, and implement continuous quality checks and training to maintain high standards in billing and coding practices.
- Education: Set regular billing and coding education for clinicians and support education with the business development team.
- Wound Care Audit Readiness: Prepare the practice for internal and external audits by ensuring all processes, documentation, and financial records comply with SOPs. Conduct detailed internal audits to identify and address potential areas of non-compliance, ensuring the practice is always audit-ready.
- Lead Internal and External Audits: Lead internal and external audits, particularly those related to wound care medical documentation, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and organizational policies.
- Patient Support: Act as a trusted advocate and primary point of contact for patients, addressing concerns with empathy, facilitating effective communication between patients and providers, handling the nurse call line - triaging and managing patient calls and concerns, and working with the administrative and clinical teams on all guidance.
- Process Improvement and Definition: Develop, implement, and regularly update SOPs to maintain high standards of care and operational efficiency, and oversee quality assurance processes for documentation related to wound care visits, ensuring accuracy and compliance with SOPs.
- Team Collaboration: Foster a culture of trust, collaboration, and emotional intelligence among providers and clinical staff to enhance patient care and clinic operations.
Qualifications
- Minimum Education: Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN) Required
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) Preferred
- Licensing: Active LPN / RN license in Georgia
- Wound Care Certification, preferred
Experience:
- Minimum of five years of nursing experience in bedside care and wound care.
- Minimum of three years of auditing wound care or similar experience.
- Demonstrated ability to integrate emotional intelligence in patient care and team interactions.
Skills and Knowledge:
- In-depth knowledge of wound care chart auditing processes, billing and coding, quality improvement methodologies, and risk management strategies.
- Exceptional emotional intelligence, including empathy, active listening, conflict resolution, and relationship-building skills.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively and compassionately with patients, families, and clinical teams.
- Ability to inspire and mentor staff, fostering a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
- Proficient in electronic health records (EHR) and other healthcare software.
- Advanced proficiency in Google Suite and other relevant software.
- Highly organized with outstanding time management and multitasking abilities.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of accuracy.
