Dates of Internship:
Monday, June 2, 2025 - Friday, August 1, 2025. You must be available to work the full 9 weeks.
Work Hours:
Our office hours are from Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. 40 hours per week
Position Overview:
Pref-Tech’s Internships provide an opportunity for students who are currently Seniors at Del Valle High School. This internship is for those students who are interested in learning more about programming in the security integration industry. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age by June 2nd, 2025.
Interns will gain practical experience in security system programming support, IP addressing and access control and video camera configuration. The internship is onsite, at our Austin location - 3709 Promontory Point Dr., Suite 106.

Required Qualifications and Experience:
- Currently a Senior at Del Valle High School and at least 18 years of age as of June 2, 2025.
- Transportation to get to our Austin Office: 3709 Promontory Point Dr., Suite 106, M-F 8am-5pm.
- Good work ethic and academic achievement.
- Willingness to take on new challenges.
- Capacity to work collaboratively.
- Microsoft Office Products i.e. Excel
- Light programming - not required, will train.
- Effectively communicates in oral and written formats.
- Solves problems accurately and efficiently.
- Shows initiative
- Good written and oral communication skills.
Duties and Responsibilities:
An Intern may be required to perform any of the duties and responsibilities below (including but not limited to) the following:
- Work with the on-site team to get a sense of the day-to-day duties and responsibilities of the IT department.
- Become familiar with Company processes and operational techniques through completing required in-house training.
- Opportunity to shadow team members.
- Assist customers both internal and external with various requests for security system programming support.
- Data entry
- IP addressing of cameras, intrusion, and access control devices.
- Security/Intrusion system programming of cameras, intrusion, and access control devices within the various platforms. (Genetec, Honeywell, Software House, DMP, Bosch, etc…)
- Assisting Project Technicians with Tier 1 Support for the following items:
- Access Control Configuration/Troubleshooting
- Video Camera Configuration/Troubleshooting
- Participate in all required company events including (but not limited to) orientation, onboarding, trainings, workshops, department or companywide meetings, mentorship activities, and offsite visits as requested or required.

Position Requirements:
- Must pass a drug screening and participate in the random drug screening program
- Must pass a background check and have no felony convictions
- Must be at least 18 years of age
