General Summary

The DevOps Engineer will design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines and automation processes for applications, websites, data stores, and ETL data pipelines. This role also oversees deployments, manages resources, and ensures optimal performance, security, and reliability across cloud environments.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP

Under the general supervision of the Senior Vice President of IT, the DevOps Engineer works closely with leaders and engineers across web, data, QA, IT operations, and project management teams.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • CI/CD Pipeline Management:
    • Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines and automation processes.
    • Collaborate with development teams to integrate CI/CD into development workflows.
    • Identify and implement opportunities for process automation and improvement.
    • Enforce and implement security measures
  • Deployment Oversight:
    • Manage and oversee deployments across multiple cloud environments.
    • Utilize strategies to ensure high availability, minimal downtime, and efficient rollbacks.
    • Ensure that all deployments meet process, performance, quality, security, and business requirements.
  • Monitoring:
    • Deploy and configure tools to track health and performance of projects and resources.
    • Set up alerts and dashboards to proactively address performance, security and reliability issues.
    • Analyze monitoring data to troubleshoot and resolve issues effectively.
  • Resource Management:
    • Assist engineering teams in selecting and implementing cloud resources.
    • Develop strategies for scaling resources based on demand and performance metrics.
    • Proactively identify and implement opportunities to optimize resource usage.
  • Collaboration and Documentation:
    • Work with engineering teams to understand project requirements and timelines.
    • Document CI/CD and monitoring processes to ensure clarity and consistency.
    • Provide training and support to team members on CI/CD best practices and tools.
Qualifications

  • Required:
  • 3 years of hands-on experience in DevOps, SRE, or a similar role.
  • Expert proficiency with at least one scripting language (e.g., Bash, PowerShell, Python).
  • Proven experience designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines from scratch.
  • Extensive knowledge of at least one major cloud provider (we use Azure and AWS).
  • Advanced knowledge of Git (e.g., branching strategies, rebasing/reverting, diffs, hooks).
  • Nice to have:
  • Experience with web technologies (e.g., JavaScript, HTML, CSS).
  • Experience with data technologies (e.g., SQL, JSON, XML, RedGate).
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent practical experience.

WORKING CONDITIONS

This is a work from home position, can be hybrid if desired and near our locations in Chicago, IL or Newport Beach, CA. All technology required will be provided. Employee is seated most of the time.

Required Training

  • Orientation via some live remote and some pre-recorded video sessions
  • IT security training
  • Internal development process and procedures

SALARY RANGE

$100,000-$120,000; actual compensation within this range will be determined by multiple factors including candidate location, experience and expertise.
