Job Purpose
This role is responsible for assisting in the retrieval of billing information, collecting any missing information, data entry into the billing system and assisting in processing the billing files.
Essential Responsibilities
- Processing of accessioning paperwork
- Preparing billing pdf’s and files
- Billing data entry
- Working knowledge and hands-on experience of medical billing and reimbursement
- Must possess detail knowledge of all medical benefit levels and a have a thorough understanding of Federal, State, and PPO, HMO, and Indemnity Plans structure
- Maximize utilization of Billing system, tools and resources to support cash collection activities
- Data entry, correct insurance assignment to patient accounts, insurance eligibility verification. Review/update demographics and patient information for accuracy
- Sample tracking internally and externally
- Organize and assist in the retrieval of missing patient information
- Responsible for faxing and mailing patient reports in a timely manner
- Filing of documents
- Prepare detailed reports using Excel
- Organize and maintain working areas
- Other duties as assigned

- HS Diploma and a minimum of 4 years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Some laboratory experience
- Experience with Telcor billing system preferred
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Excellent typing and Data Entry Skills
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to adapt to changing procedures, policies and work environment
- Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment
- Ability to communicate effectively and follow written and verbal instructions
