Job Description

The Production Superintendent is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the crushing plant’s operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-performance production. This role includes managing the crushing crews, stripping crews, dozer operators, and mechanics while maintaining compliance with MSHA regulations and company policies.

Essential Functions

  • Employee Management:
  • Schedule and manage crusher crew, stripping crew, and other relevant employees and assets.
  • Hire, onboard, and terminate employees as needed.
  • Conduct training sessions, ensuring all team members are MSHA compliant and keep certifications up to date.
  • Operations and Maintenance:
  • Oversee and coordinate all maintenance and repairs for plant equipment.
  • Collaborate with the Dispatch Manager for equipment movement scheduling.
  • Work closely with vendors to procure necessary parts and supplies.
  • Safety and Compliance:
  • Ensure all employees adhere to MSHA and company safety regulations.
  • File required MSHA reports and ensure documentation is accurate and timely.
  • Conduct daily safety meetings with crews and reinforce a culture of safety.
  • Production Oversight:
  • Perform material sampling and ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Regularly visit and inspect all crews and sites, including wash plants, screen plants, stripping crews, crusher crews, and pit loaders.
  • Submit DEQ paperwork at least 10 days prior to moving the crusher, with assistance from the HR/Compliance Manager.
  • Work on continuous improvements to plant operations, aiming to eliminate inefficiencies such as excessive use of skid steers.
  • Leadership and Organization:
  • Be present for every equipment move and setup until operations are running smoothly.
  • Maintain clean and organized work sites, including orderly equipment parking and storage.
  • Develop long-term solutions to minimize downtime and operational disruptions.
  • Coordination and Communication:
  • Partner with the Shop Foreman to guide night mechanics and maintenance activities.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with customers and vendors.
  • Communicate effectively with your supervisor to align on goals and expectations.

Non-Essential Functions

  • Provide guidance to employees facing personal challenges.
  • Foster positive morale and maintain a constructive work environment.
  • Monitor and manage staffing levels to ensure timely completion of tasks and schedules.
  • Submit company reports and operational data daily.
  • Proactively identify and address issues that may impact production or scheduling.
  • Promote team cohesion by discouraging gossip and negativity.
  • Plan and organize company trips or team-building activities.
  • Continuously explore strategies to improve production and reduce costs.

  • Equipment uptime and production efficiency.
  • Employee training and development completion rates.
  • Quality of materials and accuracy of sampling results.
  • Timeliness of reporting and regulatory submissions
