Job Summary
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Office Manager/Bookkeeper to oversee daily operations and ensure the smooth functioning of our office. We are a small family-owned contracting business and have been in the St. Louis area for 30 years. The ideal candidate will possess strong accounting skills, including general ledger reconciliation and double entry bookkeeping, and will play a crucial role in maintaining financial records and supporting the overall financial health of the organization. This position requires excellent communication skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day office operations, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness in all processes.
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely processing of invoices and payments.
- Perform general ledger accounting, including reconciliation of accounts and preparation of financial statements.
- Utilize accounting software for accurate record-keeping and reporting.
- Prepare financial reports, providing insights into budget variances and overall financial performance.
- Collaborate with external auditors during annual audits, providing necessary documentation and support.
- Maintain compliance with all relevant regulations and standards in public and corporate accounting practices.
- Assist in developing office policies and procedures to enhance operational efficiency.
- Assist the owner and project managers with some clerical duties related to bidding, project management and construction documents.
Experience
- Proven experience in an office management or similar role, with a strong focus on accounting functions (3 Yrs.).
- Solid work history and references.
- Proficiency in general ledger reconciliation, and double entry bookkeeping.
- Familiarity with Sage50 software is preferred.
- High level of proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, and Google Workspace.
- Strong understanding of debits and credits as well as accounting principles.
- Excellent organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently while also being an effective team player in a collaborative environment.
