Payroll Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced payroll employee to join our growing organization. In this position, you will record and process internal payroll and certified payroll (as needed) for a group of construction companies, both "in-house" and 3rd-party. You will ensure accurate and timely processing. Attention to detail and organization is a must.
Payroll Duties and Responsibilities
Maintain employee confidentiality and protect all employee data, especially pay rates, benefits, etc.
Handle daily payroll department operations, including collecting and verifying timekeeping
Process payroll for in-house entity, ensure accurate and timely entry for the out-of-state entities
Track both paid and unpaid time off, provide Sick Time taken and balance reports each pay period
Must understand state and federal overtime laws in addition to the various types of garnishments, disposable earnings, state and federal maximum and multiple garnishment deduction priorities
Provide reports, when requested, by compiling summary data of earnings, state and federal taxes, deductions, disability, etc.
Track and reconcile payroll data each pay period, each quarter and each calendar year
Understand and follow appropriate state and federal taxation of employer paid benefits
Provide reports for any payroll-related audits (WC, General Liability, etc.)
Work with Controller when processing year-end reports; 5500 census data, W-2/W-2c and W-3/W-3c, etc.
Process, and record, manual checks when required
Run Certified Payroll (as needed)
Report to LCP Tracker, DIR and OCPS
Assist with any other accounting
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent
CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) is a plus
5 years multi-state payroll experience
Commitment to payroll best practices and regulations
Construction payroll experience is a plus, Sage 300 CRE would be
Strong MS Office skills, including proficiency in Excel and Word
Strong communication skills, written and verbal
Ability to organize, multitask, and prioritize in deadline-driven environment
Ability to work well on a team, pitch in when needed.
Language
Must have the demonstrated ability to effectively communicate, cooperate, and collaborate with multiple levels of employees and external entities in English and Spanish.
