Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Referral Specialist to join our healthcare team. Duties
- Process and manage patient referrals in a timely manner, ensuring all necessary documentation is complete.
- Verify insurance coverage and eligibility for referred services, including managed care plans.
- Communicate effectively with healthcare providers, patients, and insurance companies to coordinate care.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation in compliance with HIPAA standards.
- Utilize knowledge of ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding to ensure proper billing and coding for referrals.
- Assist in resolving any issues related to referrals or insurance verification.
- Stay updated on changes in medical terminology, coding practices, and insurance policies relevant to the referral process.
Experience
- Previous experience in a medical office or dental office setting is preferred.
- Familiarity with medical coding practices (ICD-9, ICD-10) is essential.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and their application in healthcare settings.
- Experience with insurance verification processes and managed care systems is highly desirable.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are required for maintaining accurate records.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively liaise between patients, providers, and insurers.
