What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Assistant position at Premier Family Medical?
Job Summary: Assist the physician in an out-patient clinic setting and perform vitals, obtain histories and other intake requirements in additional to procedure assistance, diagnostic and laboratory order entry, and performance of various in-office testing. The Medical Assistant will provide a professional interface between the patient, doctor, and front desk throughout the patient visit as well as provide follow up patient communication.
Reports to the Office Manager
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Coordinates with clinic staff to ensure a positive patient flow, waiting room, and exam room experience
Verifies patient information by interviewing patient; recording medical history; confirming purpose of visit.
Prepares patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests; taking blood pressure, weight, and temperature; reporting patient history summary. Saves provider's time by helping with office procedures.
Monitor, clean and sanitize assigned patient examination rooms, unit areas and unit equipment; reports outdated supplies, stock levels and restock set levels of items and necessary equipment repairs
Secures patient information and maintains patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records; completing diagnostic coding and procedure coding; keeping patient information confidential.
Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations. Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications.
Serves and protects the practice by adhering to professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements.
Enhances practice reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
Perform other duties as assigned by Office Manager
Work Experience:
Medical Assistant Experience - 1yr Preferred
CNA/EMT Experience
Knowledge of health care field and medical office protocols/procedures.
Knowledge of specific assisting tasks related to particular medical practice.
Knowledge of information that must be conveyed to patients and families.
General knowledge of computer data entry (Microsoft Office Suite, Windows, EHR)
Language / Communication Skills:
Excellent oral and written communication skills; must also be good listener
