An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced and hands-on Accounting Manager to oversee and manage the daily accounting operations within a leading commercial real estate organization specializing in brokerage, leasing, sales, and property management. This role is essential in ensuring accurate financial processes, supporting business operations, and meeting external financial obligations. The Accounting Manager will lead a dedicated accounting team and serve as a key liaison to senior management, providing regular financial updates and ensuring compliance with industry standards and company policies.
This is an in-office role, requiring candidates to be available to work on-site five days a week.
Located in Encino, California.
Responsibilities:
Team Management
- Supervise, mentor, and support a team of 3–4 accounting clerks responsible for accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and tenant billing.
- Assign and review daily tasks to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to deadlines.
- Provide ongoing training and development to enhance the team’s skills and capabilities.
Accounting Operations
- Oversee and ensure the accuracy of day-to-day accounting processes, including general ledger entries, reconciliations, and reporting.
- Manage property-level financials, including rent collections, tenant ledgers, and reconciliations of security deposits and lease payments.
- Process payroll and oversee related reporting and compliance.
- Assist with commission tracking for the brokerage team, ensuring accurate payments and proper documentation.
Financial Reporting
- Prepare monthly financial statements, income statements, and cash flow reports for ownership and management.
- Assist with budget preparation and track performance against budgets.
- Generate reports and metrics for property performance, tenant billing, and operating expenses.
Process Improvement
- Identify opportunities to streamline and improve financial processes to enhance efficiency and reduce errors.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.
- Maintain and improve internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure data integrity.
Support to Management
- Collaborate with the owner and management team to provide financial insights and support decision-making.
- Act as a point of contact for external stakeholders, including auditors, vendors, and clients.
- Assist in preparing documentation and financial information for tax filings, audits, or reviews.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Experience in the commercial real estate or property management industry is strongly preferred.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of general accounting principles and practices.
- Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Yardi, AppFolio) and intermediate Excel skills.
- Detail-oriented and highly organized, with strong problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with team members and management.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a dynamic work environment.
Salary: $100,000 - $120,000
