What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Staff Development (DSD)/Infection Control Preventionist (IP) position at Premier Health and Rehabilitation?
Summary:
The Director of Staff Development Coordinator is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive training program that supports the facility's mission, and enhances short and long-range goals and strategies, while providing staff with the ability and capability to meet organizational and position objectives.
The Infection Control Preventionist is responsible for developing and implementing an ongoing infection prevention and control program ("IPCP") to prevent, recognize, and control the onset and spread of infection to the extent possible and reviews and updates the IPCP annually and as necessary.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Identify training and development needs for staff at all levels within the facility. Based on needs assessment, develop and recommend a comprehensive training program to include internal and external courses, conferences and on-line learning resources.
- Design and coordinate the implementation of the training package including: needs assessment, learning objectives, course content, course materials, presentation and training program evaluation.
- Develop and conduct facility in-service training as required by regulatory requirements and identified training needs.
- Develop and provide individual or customized training requested by individuals, including preparing learning objectives, designing course content and materials, evaluation tools and facilitating courses
- Consult with supervisors to identify training needs for staff. Personally present and/or oversee the presentation of materials
- Manage departmental staff performing functions such as selection, training and development, work direction, goal setting and achievement, performance evaluation and other human resource activities.
- Assure that the training database is accurate and current, and that documentation for all training is completed in accordance with state, federal, local, and compliance requirements.
- Ensures that the educational curriculum meets or exceed state, federal, local and accreditation regulations
- As a facility leader, this position is responsible for mentoring. The position is responsible for role modeling and promoting values throughout the organization
- The position is instrumental in preparing operational plans and is responsible for implementing plans related to the overall training objectives.

Education/Experience:
- Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing program
- Have primary professional training in nursing, medical technology, microbiology, epidemiology, or other related field
- Have completed specialized training in infection prevention and control
Certificate and Licenses:
- Registered Nurse (RN) license or Licensed Practice Nurse (LPN) license
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $33.00 - $38.00 per hour
