What are the responsibilities and job description for the SYS DIR-GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS position at Premier Health Partners?
This individual serves as the primary representative and advocate for Premier Health at the state, and federal levels. This role is responsible for developing and executing strategies to advance the health system’s policy priorities, influence legislation, and foster strong relationships with government officials, regulatory agencies, and key stakeholders to build trust and support, to represent Premier Health’s interests and advocate for policies that align with its mission and objectives. This individual will ensure that the compliance with relevant regulatory frameworks and proactively engage in advocacy efforts to protect and promote its interests.
Position will be remote with much work occurring in Columbus, Ohio, to ensure close proximity to state officials, government agencies, and lobbying organizations, with periodic travel to Dayton for meetings, Leader Development Institute sessions, local events, staff meetings, and other organizational engagements as required.
Will work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, requiring travel to attend legislative sessions, industry conferences, and meetings with public officials. The position requires the ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure while maintaining a high level of professionalism.
This role reports directly to the Chief Marketing and Communications Officer.
Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Public Health, Public Policy, or related field required. Master's degree a plus.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in government relations, public policy, or advocacy, with a strong background in health care or regulatory environments. Academic Medical Center experience preferred
Prior specific functional responsibilities: Experience in government relations, public affairs, advocacy or a related field Political Acumen and Diplomacy
Preferred experience: Proven experience working with legislative bodies, regulatory agencies, and public officials. Experience leading successful advocacy campaigns and lobbying efforts
Strong understanding of the legislative and regulatory process, as well as excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills. A background in law or public policy may be beneficial.
Strong understanding of health care policy, regulatory environments, and the legislative process.
Strong analytical skills to evaluate policy implications and provide strategic guidance.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills with experience in public speaking and stakeholder engagement.
Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and a deep understanding of Premier Health's target audience and business objectives.
Demonstrated ability to think creatively and strategically to drive innovation and growth.
Demonstrated leadership ability with experience managing cross functional teams and external partners.
