Medical Coder

Job Description

• Responsible for reviewing patient encounters, monitoring provider documentation for compliance
• Responsible for accurately coding (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, Level I and Level II Modifiers)
• Responsible for generating and scrubbing claims for accuracy, and keeping up-to-date on coding guidelines and reimbursement reporting requirements
• Responsible for being in compliance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)
• Responsible for coordinating corrections with providers when code assignments and/or documentation is inadequate or unclear, and submitting via clearinghouse and via paper.
• Responsible for working knowledge of insurance policy guidelines and reimbursement processes and reporting data for merit-based incentive payments
• Responsible for identifying any billing concerns or reimbursement changes and providing necessary billing account reports to the Director of Operations
• Responsible for other various tasks as needed for the position
