Position Summary:
The Truck Driver takes direction from the Warehouse Manager or designee. Trucking personnel transports raw materials and the finished goods inventory between all area locations, being the warehouses, Bulk Plants, and Repack. Trucking personnel is expected to work as a member of the shipping and receiving operations. Operation of Material Handling Equipment (MHE) is also required. The Truck Driver will perform a variety of routine and complex transportation work in driving and coordinating transportation plans in support of the delivery and pick up of products.
Requirements and Responsibilities:
- Perform all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards
- Perform pre-trip inspections and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment, refer defects or repairs to supervisor, clean equipment
- Operate company owned and leased trucks to facilitate shipping and receiving operations
- Understand the material flow and product needs based on guidance of production
- Preload over the road trailers and drop and hook trailers as needed, using material handling equipment
- Provide outstanding customer service during delivery and pickup operations
- Maintain all required certifications required by DOT and OSHA and company safety programs while maintaining all company property entrusted to you in excellent condition
- Ability to perform heavy manual tasks under varying weather conditions.
- Ability to make overnight runs as required by shipping needs
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor to support and improve the overall team operation
Education/Experience:
- Must be a minimum of 21 years old and have a high school diploma
- Must be experienced in driving tractor and trailer units with 80,000 lbs. gross weight under DOT Rules and Regulations
- Must have a current qualified CDL license for units previously driven and able to submit written record of experience as required by the DOT, part 391 of these regulations
- Must have 3 years of documented experience driving a tractor trailer with 80,000 lbs. gross weight unit under DOT Rules and Regulations on the public highways of the United States and in all four (4) seasons with an accident record acceptable to the company
- All applicants are checked through the Records Section of the State Police, and local departments and any reports unsatisfactory to the Company will be considered as grounds for disqualifying the applicant
- Must be physically fit and must have an up-to-date medical card, drug tested, and random drug tested as required by the DOT Rules and Regulations part 391.1 through 391.123
- Ability to work independently as the position receives a minimum of direct supervision and must be able to proactively organize the work to meet deadlines
- Ability to make independent judgments which have moderate impacts on the organization
- All applicants will be subject to a training and qualification period
- CDL is required within six months of assignment to position
Work Environment/Conditions/Physical Demands:
- Requires prolonged sitting, driving, and MHE operations
Must be able to work in severe weather conditions, both heat and cold
