Description
- Must have a minimum set of hand tools as specified by the Company. Previous experience must include a minimum of four years as a millwright.
Job includes but is not limited to repair of conveyor belts, bucket elevators, crushers, ball mills, screens, pumps, etc. Experience in industrial construction and/or repair may count. Must be able to read and understand blueprints and equipment instructions. Must be able to weld with enough proficiency to pass a Company welding test in both electrical arc and oxygen/acetylene welding and understand the safe handling of welding equipment. Must be able to determine what type of rod to use on different types of steel and cast iron. Must be thoroughly familiar with all aspects of safety in the maintenance field. Must be capable of working with a minimum of supervision. I must be able to work all shifts. A written test will be given as part of the company’s evaluation of aptitude for the job. All work described above to be done in an efficient and workman-like manner. This position is subject to duties as assigned. This position is subject to shift work.
Qualifications
- Reads Blueprints & Schematic Drawings to determine work procedures.
- Moves machinery and equipment, using hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks.
- Assembles and install equipment, such as shafting, conveyors, and tram rails, using hand tools and power tools.
- Constructs foundation for machines, using hand tools and building materials, such as wood cement, and steel.
- Align machines and equipment, using hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, rules, micrometers, lasers, and plumb bobs.
- Assembles machinery and bolts, welds, rivets, or otherwise fasten them to foundation or other structures, using hand tools and power tools.
- May operate engine lathe or milling machine to grind, file, and turn machine parts to dimensional specifications.
- Required repair and lubricate machinery and equipment.
- Select cables, ropes, chains, pulleys, winches, blocks, and sheaves, according to weight and size of load to be moved.
- Attaches load with grappling devices, such as loops, wires, ropes, and chains, to crane hooks.
- Sets up, braces, and rigs hoisting equipment, using hand tools and power wrenches.
- May direct workers engaged in hoisting of machinery and equipment.
- 3-4 years as a millwright or Mechanic Mining experience highly desirable.
- A strong safety record and the ability to work with a variety of individuals.
- Ability to adapt information and communication style to the audience.
- Skilled at promoting teamwork to establish consensus among team and stakeholders.
- Strong Troubleshooting skills must be able to follow SOPS or to use a logical method to identify and solve problems.
- Familiar with mining/ methodology and practices, machinery and tools.
- Must have a current valid driver’s license.
- Will be required to provide tools from the mechanic A tool list.
- Must complete a Mechanic A competency test proctored by Human Resources

Required Skills
- 3-4 years as a fixed Mechanic (preferably in an industrial setting).
- Strong trouble shooting skills.
- 3-5 years of experience in oxygen/acetylene cutting and plasma cutting
- 3-5 years of MIG/TIG welding and electrode welding, pipe welding, fabrication,
- Good at math with analytical abilities
- Physical stamina and strength to lift heavy items up to 50 lbs.
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of vocational training or an apprenticeship will be an asset.
- Demonstrated history of a high level of safety leadership.
- Proven experience in managing multiple priorities while maintaining a safe work culture and a zero tolerance for violation of Safety protocol.
