Job Purpose: The Clinical Pod Trainer will be responsible for staff training. This is a working position.
Essential Functions: (Example of Duties)
- Responsible for department specific training of newly assigned staff for the first 90 days from hire.
- Assist Clinical Floor Lead and Clinical Supervisor in completing new hire skills development and competency checklists.
- Provides feedback and gives input to Clinical Supervisor and Clinical Floor Lead for staff meetings pertaining to staff training.
- Responsible for disseminating and implementing changes with policies and procedures as it relates to staff training.
- Back-up to Clinical Floor Lead for daily pod huddles.
- Responsible for retraining and/or correction training with assigned pod staff.
- Responsible for staying up to date with current training policies and procedures.
- Attends required meetings, in-services, and participates in committee work as requested.
- Greets and escorts patients to exam room using appropriate procedures and in a timely fashion.
- Takes vital signs and assists patients in patient flow through the office.
- Prepares exam rooms and instruments for examination and testing. Stocks supplies, sterilizes instruments when used or assigned.
- Labels and maintains proper storage for specimens and tests.
- Assists provider with minor diagnostic procedures and treatments as directed.
- Schedules patients for testing procedures and other appointments as necessary.
- Processes prescription refills as directed by provider.
- Observes, records, and reports patients condition and reaction to drugs and treatments to physicians. Administers prescribed medications and treatments as directed.
- Works clinical inbox of the provider.
- Performs and reports in-house lab testing.
- Ability to effectively and efficiently navigate and document in EHR.
- Performs telephone triage per established guidelines and documents accordingly.
- Maintains patient confidentiality.
- Perform Breath Alcohol tests.
- Complete and manage Workers Comp referrals as needed.
- Ability to input and navigate DOT national registry.
- Familiar with paperwork completion for Immigration and DOT pre-employment physicals.
- Performs related work as required.
Job Requirements/Qualifications: (Describe minimum qualifications, preferred or required)
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent. Completion of accredited Medical Assisting Program or Nationally Accredited Certification in Medical Assisting. Associates or Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
Experience: One year work experience in an ambulatory clinic setting preferred.
Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of standard operating procedures for clinic operation. knowledge of safety practices and hazardous conditions to provide a safe work environment. knowledge of principles and practices of supervision. Ability to work effectively with external agencies, patients and staff. Ability to train and motivate employees. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively. Ability to adapt training to meet the learning needs of employees.
Licenses/Certifications: High School Diploma or equivalent. Medical Assisting Degree or Diploma or valid Nursing License in the state of TN, if applicable. Medical Assisting program must include a clinical skills portion and externship prior to completion or two years of experience in as a clinical Medical Assistant. CPR certification from either the AHA or American Red Cross required.
Working Conditions: Exposure to communicable, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinic environment.
Physical Demands: Ability to operate office and medical equipment, including computer, copier/fax machine, EKG/ECG etc. Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time. May be required to lift/transfer patients. Requires ability to bend and lift up to 50 pounds. Hearing and vision to normal range required. Exposure to communicable diseases and bodily fluids.
