The Sr. Manager will be an integral member of the accounting/finance team and will work closely with the rest of the organization to ensure complete, accurate, and timely SEC reporting. This role will report directly to the Director of Financial Reporting and will work closely with members of the corporate accounting team, investor relations, and the business units.
The Sr. Manager’s primary goal is to lead the preparation and completion of SEC filings, primarily 10-Qs and 10-Ks. This role will also be responsible for overseeing the team’s compliance with audit requests and SOX requirements. Additionally, they will be responsible for leading the disclosure committee’s review of the draft financial statements and managing the technical accounting function, including the annual goodwill impairment assessment, quarterly technical memos, and evaluation of new accounting standards. The position requires strong SEC reporting experience, managerial leadership, knowledge of US GAAP and SEC requirements, effective communication, problem solving, and analytical skills. The Senior Manager will manage a Staff Accountant while maintaining a hands-on role.

If you’re based in the greater St. Louis area, you’ll walk into our new, modern Clayton, Missouri headquarters each Tuesday morning and start the in-person portion of our hybrid work week at our weekly all-company meeting live-streamed along with our colleagues at our flagship subsidiary, Premier Nutrition Company, which is headquartered in Emeryville, California. During that time, we watch one of our newer teammates tell their personal life and career journey followed by short updates on any hot topics that might be relevant to the week ahead such as product news, culture events, and ringing the bell (i.e., things to celebrate).
We are a true hybrid workplace with aligned days in the office on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. What this means in practice is you will have more flexibility and time to do focused work at the beginning and end of the workweek, and the middle portion will be filled with connecting in person for things like innovation, impromptu collaboration, having respectful challenges to get to better decisions, leadership role-modeling, and culture building. The expected pay scale for this role is $135k to $145k, which may vary based on relevant experience, qualifications, geographic area (if applicable), and internal equity for the role.

Strategic Reporting Initiatives: 60% of the time
- Oversee the preparation and filing of financial SEC reports, including 10-Qs, 10-Ks, and 11-Ks, ensuring compliance with SEC regulations and GAAP
- Serve as primary contact for external auditors (PwC) and internal auditors (EY) regarding corporate related controls and requests and provide auditors with required data for their audits
- Maintain documentation of SEC reporting processes, while ensuring internal control protocols are followed
- Support and drive technology capabilities for the team with a continuous improvement mindset
- Lead and contribute to projects spanning across other departments
Technical Accounting Initiatives: 20% of the time
- Manage the technical accounting function, including the annual goodwill impairment assessment, quarterly technical memos, and evaluation of complex accounting issues
- Stay up to date on changes to GAAP standards and other regulations, and provide company specific recommendations to ensure compliance with new or changing standards
- Maintain documentation of technical accounting memos and accounting policies, while ensuring internal control protocols are followed
- Provide guidance over significant contracts, ensuring accounting accuracy and appropriate accounting treatment
Coaching, guiding, and business partnering: 20% of the time
- Hire, coach and develop staff and senior accountants
- Prioritize tasks and assignments for direct report
- Lead internal and external team meetings (when necessary), where the management team discusses financial statement disclosures, changes to accounting standards, and process improvement projects

Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field required
Experience:
- 8 years of relevant accounting experience with large public companies
- 2 years of people management experience required
- Public Accounting experience and a CPA license or Masters in Accounting preferred
- Experience with financial reporting software such as Workiva preferred
