Position SummaryThe Assistant Controller will play a key role in managing the financial health of PPIS, overseeing the accounting function, financial reporting, reconciliations, and compliance. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented financial professional with experience in insurance industry accounting, GAAP principles, and financial analysis. The position is part-time (approximately 20 hours per week), with flexible scheduling.
The ideal candidate is an experienced finance professional who can streamline accounting operations, support leadership with financial insights, and maintain strong internal controls.
Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Oversight & Accounting- Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including payables, receivables, and reconciliations.
- Ensure accurate financial reporting in accordance with GAAP and industry standards.
- Monitor cash flow, budgets, and financial performance metrics.
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Maintain and enforce strong internal financial controls.
- Ensure compliance with insurance industry regulations and company policies.
- Work with external accountants and auditors as needed for tax filings and financial reviews.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation within the accounting function.
- Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and strategic financial planning.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to senior leadership.
- Work with QuickBooks, AMS, or other financial/accounting software to ensure accurate record-keeping.
- Collaborate with the executive team to integrate financial data with business operations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
- 5 years of accounting/finance experience, preferably in the insurance industry.
- CPA, CMA, or equivalent certification preferred but not required.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and insurance accounting principles.
- Experience with QuickBooks, AMS, and/or financial management software.
- Proficiency in Excel and financial modeling.
- Detail-oriented, analytical, and highly organized.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
- Excellent communication and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to adapt to a fast-paced, growing organization.
