Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Construction Manager to lead and oversee key aspects of our plant execution including the overall coordination and leadership of Company's functions and managing/overseeing the performance of the Construction contractor.

In this position, the Senior Construction Manager is accountable for enabling, monitoring and influencing the construction contractor’s safety, productivity, and schedule adherence integration of multiple parties including but not limited to the EP contractor, vendors, and suppliers, and the construction contractor, and for the stewardship and execution of complex interfaces. The successful candidate uses her/ his Construction expertise to develop and manage the project to Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and implements the necessary corrective actions by being highly influential in circumstances that the candidate will not have direct authority.

The candidate is required to model composure and maintain calm and control under stressful situations and despite the need to maintain safety, schedule, milestones, budget and quality targets.

The candidate will anticipate roadblocks and have them removed to allow the Construction Contractor to achieve the safe delivery of the project and the targeted productivity and coordinate all activities to achieve the project Safety, schedule and cost targets. The candidate will create and coordinate the development of the scope of work(s), provide the definition and the understanding of what it is required to be constructed and provide/ evaluate alternatives to construct the Rainier facility in a safe and effective manner.

  • Demonstrate sound decision-making with a continuous safety, reliability, cost-management and continuous improvement mindset, including identification of areas for improvement and building alignment with the integrated team members, internal and external stakeholders and business partners (e.g., licensors, engineering and procurement contractors, partners, constructors, etc).
  • Support scope development, support defining the scope, develop and planning field (site) planning, constructability, scopes of work in support to requests for proposal, and monitoring/ control processes for construction to deliver optimal results in an increasingly complex business environment while identifying new opportunities to create value
  • Manage by influence construction contractors and team members to deliver to their contractual obligations.
  • Provide constructability in brown and green field environment
  • Interface with and manage relationships with engineering companies, vendors, and subject matter experts to design and build large production plants. Act as an interpreter between non-technical and technical teams.
  • Provide task planning, demonstrate expertise in construction cost control, and resource forecasting for construction activities, develop and monitor progress of multiple construction work fronts, construction crews, daily and weekly productivity, rates of productivity and can provide summarized reports that includes analysis, forecasts and respective mitigations plans.
  • Acts as the alternate primary point of contact for Company's Construction Director for all related construction matters.
  • Coordinate constructability reviews and design reviews to ensure that quality control requirements are met in accordance with the company’s procedures, and good engineering practices.
  • The ideal candidate has in-depth knowledge of quality in construction, and in turnover processes.
  • With her/ his extensive experience in complex construction, she/ he can influence the constructor contractor, vendors and suppliers to maintain the project schedule and budget and anticipating problems before they impact the project schedule and cost.
  • Provides clarity on what the scope and manages the respective Management of Change.
  • Manage Site Security and the Regulatory site requirements, as per the Project Regulatory Compliance Plan
  • Support and be seen as part of the Commissioning and Startup team, completing key deliverables, and be a champion to assist the transition from bulk construction to systems including standing up and delivering a fit for purpose Turnover Plan and schedule.
  • As a strong communicator, you will coordinate and manage key interdependencies throughout the project lifecycle always maintaining calm and composure.
  • The candidate uses her/ his previous experience in the completion of the construction activities to:
  • Approve the Mechanical Completion Notice prior to Turnover
  • Provide final written permission for Company's C&SU team to bring all commodities into a System
  • Be the link between Contractor Field Execution Team, Company's Turnover and C&SU team members
  • Support and champion the implementation of Turnover procedure and deliverables.
  • Manage completion of all construction work-to-go, pre-commissioning activities, as identified in the Mechanical Completion Activity and Responsibility Checklist
  • Approve the transfer of Contractor Punch List Category B and C items including the completion of all Exception items and coordinates and ensures the Contractor, Company and the Engineering representatives participate in Final Walkdown and Contractor declares
  • Expedite MC completion of each system as per the C&SU system priority.
  • Coordinate the input into the categorizing of Turnover Final Exception List items.
  • Notify Company's Contracts Manager that all punch list items are complete and documents have been received from Contractor.


Job Requirements:

  • 20 years of professional experience working as a construction manager in complex projects.
  • You have strong technical communication skills.
  • You can think strategically, while determining what it is important and monitoring the details required to ensure successful project execution and delivery
  • You are comfortable working on projects with complex schedules and multiple interdependencies in an evolving project environment.
  • You have extensive experience working on and supporting projects during the construction and commissioning phases.
  • You are seeing as role model for future generations
  • Excellent grasp of engineering principles and experience assessing complex systems.
