BSG Design Release Engineer
W2 Role - 100% onsite at Auburn Hills, MI

Requirements:
**BSG is the 48-volt Belt Starter Generator, or Motor Generator Unit. It's the little electric motor that replaces the alternator on your engine that gives it the start/stop feature, when your engine shuts off at a stop light and then turns back on when you go to take off
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics or a closely related engineering degree from an ABET accredited university.
- A minimum of 3 years of engineering experience in the automotive field, in product development/powertrain
- Understanding of engineering theory and principles of design.
- 20% travel required (International travel to Italy if needed)
Additional Requirements:
- Advanced degree in engineering from an ABET accredited University.
- 5 years of related engineering experience.
- 2 years of design release experience.
- Understanding of Electric Motor operation, design, manufacturing, testing & development
- Experience with Design Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (DFMEA).
- Knowledge of drawing GD&T and dimensional tolerance stack-ups.
- Experience with Statement of Requirements, DFMEA, and Design Reviews.
- Working knowledge of problem resolution and tracking systems and engineering change management processes.
- Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) Certification.
The Design Release Engineer responsibilities include but are not are limited to:
Specifying, designing, developing and releasing electric motors for Electric Vehicle (EV), Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV), and Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) vehicle applications. The Engineer will guide the engineering development of electric motors from Design Concept into Product Launch, including Electromagnetic Design, Mechanical Design, and Thermal Analysis. The selected Candidate will: coordinate the release of designs, obtain design approvals, ensure designs are manufacturable, component readiness, track piece cost, investment & mass, support future design direction, lead and facilitate resolution of component issues, lead design changes through Product Development (PD), Change Request (CRs), Change Notices (CNs), Global Issue management (GIMs), Forever Request (FR), Interim Approval Authorization (IAA), and quality gates (APQP) processes, warranty process, and support supplier quality assurance & warranty resolution.
