Food Safety and Compliance Lead – Job Description
· Location: Multi-site (Northern NJ and Western FL)
· Contract Type: Permanent – Full Time.
· Shift Pattern: Monday – Friday ~ 40 hours per week.
· Travel: 20% Travel
The Role
Premio Foods Inc. is looking for a seasoned Food Safety and Compliance Lead to join the growing Quality department, this is a great opportunity to become part of the Premio Organization.
Reporting to the Quality Assurance Director, you will provide with technical expertise to our customers, suppliers and the wider business, advising of food safety and quality standards and providing support to all functions to ensure compliance with regulatory, third party and customer requirements.
Responsibilities include:
Ensure there is clarity of the Food Safety and Quality Standards – to ensure they’re effectively communicated, understood and applied.
Ensure the Business develops an “Audit Ready” Culture – to consistently deliver excellence in auditing.
Ensure relevant standards, HACCP based as appropriate, are communicated, understood and applied to meet Food Safety, Quality and Legality, and customer specified requirements. The standards must be documented and maintained within a recognized system.
Support the business with management of Internal Audit Program, hosting audits as appropriate. Drives a culture of “fit to manufacture every day” readiness through the daily operational teams. Manages response & close out of non-conformance reports from audits as required.
Lead, motivate and inspire direct reports in line with Premio values to achieve personal development and continuous improvement.
Develop and implement effective KPIs that measure, trend and identify issues to be communicated both internally and relevant entities. Develop and agree action plans using root cause analysis to deliver continuous improvement.
Provides specialist food safety and regulatory knowledge to enable the Business Unit to exploit manufacturing, NPD and commercial advantage while ensuring the required standards of Food Safety, Quality and Legality are met.
As part of management team, ensures operational team promotion of a Food Safe and Compliant culture within the factory environment.
About you
You must possess a range of HACCP, Internal Auditing and SQF qualifications and to be successful in this role you will need previous experience in a food environment Quality or Technical role.
You will need a good understanding of the chilled food environment to include raw processing and RTC disciplines. You will need to be versed in interacting with regulatory entities such as the USDA FSIS.
You will be a clear and effective communicator – able to “frame” situations/incidents, etc. to gain understanding and commitment from stakeholders.
A calm logical thinker – an evidence-based decision maker, who when challenged can demonstrate rational of thought.
Driving a culture of audit readiness, best practice, and leading resolution of project issues by negotiating in a pragmatic and calm objective manner, will be top of your agenda.
You will possess strong organizational skills and the ability to achieve results through effective people management while also showing an agility to adapt and thrive when working under pressure.
