POSITION TITLE: Teacher - Prenger Family Center
FLSA: Exempt
QUALIFICATIONS: Must hold any certification to include any grades 6-12
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Supervise and monitor students assigned to the Prenger Family Center.
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
- Applicant should have knowledge of school and classroom rules, procedures and practices.
- Applicant must have the ability to interpret and establish appropriate rules, methods and techniques in maintaining a disciplined academic environment.
- Applicant must have strong interpersonal skills and patience.
- Applicant must have experience working with students and knowledge of conflict resolution techniques is strongly encouraged.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide supervision for students who are assigned to the Prenger Family Center classroom.
- Take daily attendance.
- Work with students and or other Prenger staff members on issues such as behavior management and the prevention of undesirable behaviors.
- Engage the students’ online learning experiences for the range of skill levels and developmental needs that are presented.
- Monitor students’ online progress; provide encouragement and feedback to students, monitor tests, computer work and provide instructional assistance as appropriate.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Teacher Certification: Any content certification to include any grades 6-12
- Operating knowledge of computers
- Experience in working with middle school and high school age students
- Must be able to handle and react to potential student misbehavior and take appropriate action
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Abide by state statutes, school board policies and regulations.
- Attend meetings and perform duties as assigned by administrators or supervisors.
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation.
- Work closely with Prenger Family Center staff with regard to their procedures and supervision.
- Provide services related to Home School Coordinator responsibilities.
