Prenger's Foods is currently accepting applications for the position of Perishable Foods Supervisor. Qualified applicants must be 21 , hard workers, able to provide excellent customer service, work in a fast-paced environment, and a go-getter. This role will lead our Meat, Produce, and potentially Deli/Bakery Departments across 5 Missouri locations: Macon, Centralia, Hallsville, Sturgeon, and Paris. They would also seek out deals, and negotiate with vendors to build weekly sales to benefit our customers.
Experience in Meat Cutting, Management, and Retail is required! Must be available to work some weekends. This is a full-time position with competitive wages and benefits, including health insurance, holiday/vacation pay, and flexible hours.
Primary Duties:
- Train and Assist Department Managers at multiple locations to oversee the daily operations of the departments.
- Seek deals and negotiate with vendors to build weekly sales to benefit our customers.
- Set the example: provide friendly, prompt, and efficient customer service.
- Create a plan and instruct, assign, and review plan with managers and employees.
- Complete or oversee ordering of product for multiple locations and departments.
- Create a positive work environment by keeping a positive attitude, encouraging employees, keeping work fun and flexible while also setting the example and following company standards.
- Recruit, hire, train, and evaluate department managers and employees.
- Create goals for department to meet company standard gross margins.
- Creates weekly work schedule for department and employees.
- Conduct inventories of the department.
- Ensure correct department pricing.
- Plan displays, promotions, and in-store special prices.
- Cut, grind, tray, wrap, weigh, and label all varieties of meat – while operating tools safely.
- Stock cases and rotate product.
- Practice proper sanitation procedures and complete required cleaning to ensure work areas and displays are kept neat and clean.
- Ensure the correct temperatures to guarantee product is kept fresh, and control shrink.
- Adhere to company policies and guidelines.
- Report to work when scheduled and on time.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Experience in retail, management, and meat cutting is required.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced work environment.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to be on their feet for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to lift up to 85 pounds occasionally, lift up to 40 pounds frequently, and lift up to 10 pounds constantly to move product.
- Must be able to carefully operate equipment necessary to perform job - including but not limited to; pallet jack, wrapping systems, knives, grinders, slicers, tenderizers, patty maker, etc.
Must hold a Class F drivers license, and willing to get a Class E license.
Environment:
This is a fast-paced work environment. This position is continually exposed to a cool and damp environment, and there is frequent noise from saws.
