Working Conditions : The Coordinator of Volunteers works from home and functions efficiently using their own computer, phone, and a provided PCHAS email address. This person should be outgoing and able to accurately communicate (verbally and in writing) with individuals and large groups. Must be able to lift 40 lbs. and have a flexible schedule. Mileage and meal reimbursements are provided when travel is required.
Position Summary : Under the supervision of the Director of Development, based in Southeast Missouri, this 10-hour per week position primarily recruits and trains individuals to serve the agency on a regular basis as “Authorized Volunteers.” PCHAS Authorized Volunteers complete state mandated background checks and agency required training. Secondarily, this position recruits and trains Volunteer Groups who desire to serve the agency on special occasions. Very little travel is required and the employee is expected to work from home. Extra hours are available during sorting days (one week) of each in-kind campaign.
Essential Job Functions
- Meets online with the Director of Development and Vice President of Development on a weekly basis to discuss recruitment progress of new Authorized Volunteers and Volunteer Groups.
- Attends occasional online meetings with program and development staff to learn of new areas needing support from Authorized Volunteers and Volunteer Groups.
- Recruits Authorized Volunteers and Volunteer Groups to teach life-skills to client-parents, plan and implement children’s activities during parent trainings, organize supply and in-kind gift closets, collect and sort donated school supplies, and collect and sort donated Christmas gifts.
- Recruits Authorized Volunteers and Volunteer Groups to assist program staff who organize activities for their families, and development staff who organize fundraising events by researching, posting, and maintaining PCHAS volunteer opportunities through online volunteer boards.
- Recruits Authorized Volunteers and Volunteer Groups by hosting meetings online with community groups, church groups, and companies interested in promoting volunteer opportunities to their staff or members.
- Responds in a timely manner to calls and emails from prospective and current Authorized Volunteers and Volunteer Groups.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
This person should have experience working as a volunteer or serving a non-profit organization. This person must be organized and able to work well with adults who desire to have a positive impact. Must be trustworthy and able to maintain confidences in all matters relating to clients and the agency.
Other Requirements :
Must hold a valid driver’s license, have and maintain a risk-free driving record. Must be willing to undergo initial and periodic child abuse / neglect, criminal history, sexual offender, and childcare / elder care disqualification list screenings. As requested, must submit fingerprints for review by the state of your employment and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Must undergo a pre-employment drug screen and a pre-employment physical with the results showing no evidence of communicable disease.
