Safety Health Specialist RN I
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Safety Health Specialist RN I to join our team at Presbyterian Villages of Michigan. As a key member of our care team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of our residents.
About the Role
This role involves assessing resident condition and therapeutic needs, supervising and directing restorative CNAs, and monitoring wound care. You will work closely with our multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans that meet the unique needs of each resident.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct supervisory activities such as hiring and firing staff, providing employee orientation and training, creating work schedules, coaching or disciplinary action, and approving employee payroll for restorative department.
- Monitor, record, and report symptoms or changes in resident's condition and therapeutic needs.
- Monitors I/A reports/events and make appropriate recommendations.
- Record all therapeutic/rehabilitative data accurately and reports changes in condition or errors and omissions to ensure records are kept up-to-date.
- Assist in the development, monitoring and updating of individualized care plans.
- Direct or coordinate Wound Care programs, advising or consulting with specified personnel about necessary precautions, quality programs, initiatives and compliance.
- Administers and performs medical procedures and treatments as ordered by physician(s) or in response to emergency situations.
- Assist in the development and implementation of restorative nursing care measures and techniques.
- Create Monthly and Quarterly Pressures Ulcer and I/A reports for Director of Nursing and Administrator.
- Review, correct and authorize documentation, charts, records etc.
- Assess resident upon admission for safety issues. Initiate appropriate safety devices.
- Complete skin assessment for new residents upon admission. Document and recommend treatment as required.
- Complete restorative department MDS sections and submit to MDS Nurse.
- Review bath sheets for skin condition change notices. Follow up with assessment as needed.
- Assist with investigations of abuse allegations and report to government departments as required.
- Order equipment for restorative department
- Complete required restorative department paperwork (Braden scales, fall risk assessments, safety and supervision care plans, restorative care plans)
- Attend and participate in all appropriate meetings and training opportunities in order to keep informed on current information and skill development.
- All other duties as assigned
About You
We are looking for an experienced and compassionate nurse who is passionate about delivering high-quality care to older adults. As a Safety Health Specialist RN I, you will have:
- An Associate's Degree from an accredited school of nursing.
- A Bachelors degree in nursing is preferred.
- At least six months to one year geriatric experience, preferably with physical therapy/rehabilitation experience.
- A valid Current registration and licensure from the State of Michigan.
- A valid Current CPR certification.
