PURPOSE OF POSITION
The Plastics Technician plays a critical role in the manufacturing and quality assurance of plastic components at Press-Seal. This position is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining plastic molding machines, ensuring adherence to strict quality standards and process specifications. The technician contributes directly to the company’s commitment to producing high-performance, reliable sealing solutions by supporting efficiency, safety, and continuous improvement in our production line.

The technician contributes directly to the company’s commitment to producing high-performance, reliable sealing solutions by supporting efficiency, safety, and continuous improvement in our production line.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Machine Operation & Setup:
- Set up and operate plastic injection or compression molding machines, using scientific injection molding principals.
- Adjust settings and monitor machines during operation to ensure optimal performance.
- Perform basic troubleshooting and minor repairs as needed.
- Complete insert changes on injection molds as required
- Inspect molded parts for conformance to specifications using measuring instruments.
- Document process parameters, machine outputs, and inspection data accurately.
- Identify and report defects or quality issues to appropriate personnel.
- Conduct daily preventive maintenance checks on equipment.
- Maintain clean and organized workstations in accordance with 5S principles.
- Follow all safety protocols and contribute to a zero-injury environment.
- Work collaboratively with team members, quality inspectors, and supervisors to meet production goals.
- Communicate machine issues or material shortages to supervisors in a timely manner.
- Participate in training sessions and contribute to process improvement efforts.
- Perform, document and submit training records for all employees in the department

Qualifications
- Knowledge of plastic molding processes and equipment preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents, blueprints, and process sheets.
- Strong attention to detail and quality standards.
- Good communication skills and ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
- Basic computer literacy and familiarity with manufacturing software is a plus.
- Knowledge in the following areas:
- Hydraulic core pull
- Hot runner controller
- Spue picker / servo takeout
- Plastic resin drying
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Technical training or prior experience in plastics manufacturing is strongly preferred.
- 1–3 years of experience in a production or machine operation role.
