Position: Staff Accountant
Reports to: Chief Financial Officer and Senior Staff Accountant
Exempt / Non: Exempt
Position Overview:: An Entry-Level Staff Accountant will support the accounting department in performing various financial tasks, including maintaining financial records, assisting with general ledger functions, preparing financial statements, and helping with monthly and year-end close processes. This role is ideal for recent graduates or individuals looking to gain foundational experience in accounting.
Key Responsibilities
General Ledger Maintenance: Assist with posting journal entries, reconciling accounts, and ensuring the accuracy of financial records.
Financial Reporting: Help prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, and assist in analyzing financial data.
Bank Reconciliation: Ensure bank accounts are reconciled regularly, investigate discrepancies, and resolve any issues.
Accounts Payable/Receivable: Support the management of invoices, payments, and collections, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
Expense Tracking: Monitor company expenses, prepare reports, and ensure proper allocation of costs.
Tax Support: Assist with preparation of tax filings, including 1099, CAT tax, and income tax.
Audit Assistance: Provide support during internal and external audits by preparing documentation.
Process Improvement: Identify areas for process improvement and assist in implementing accounting best practices.
Payroll: Assist with payroll administration and processing.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
Experience: Internship experience or 0-2 years of relevant work experience in an accounting or finance role (preferred, but not required).
Technical Skills: Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Google) is a plus.
Attention to Detail: Strong focus on accuracy and detail in financial records and reports.
Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze data and identify discrepancies or issues.
Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with team members, clients, and management.
Time Management: Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
