Description
Oversees the daily operations of the Prestonwood Bookstore at Prestonwood Baptist Church (“PBC”).
Responsibilities:
- Oversee all aspects of bookstore operations, including customer service, inventory management, sales, and promotions
- Foster a friendly and welcoming atmosphere for customers, offering personalized book recommendations and exceptional service
- Assist with analyzing sales trends and customer needs to develop strategies that enhance the bookstore's offerings
- Assist with inventory processes, including ordering, receiving, organizing, and assessing stock levels
- Assist with creating and executing storewide promotions and sales initiatives to drive revenue
- Design and implement attractive merchandise displays to highlight featured products
- Recruit, train, and supervise bookstore staff, providing ongoing development and support
- Schedule staff to ensure adequate coverage during operating hours and events
- Oversee point-of-sale (POS) transactions, ensuring accurate cash handling and reporting
- Collaborate with Bookstore Director to aid church staff on planning and executing events, book signings, and other churchwide initiatives
- Maintain a clean and organized store environment to ensure a positive shopping experience
- Lead in resolving complex customer interactions and handling escalated issues
- Develop and implement strategies to improve sales, optimize operations, and expand the bookstore’s community impact
- Assists with overseeing sales at the North Campus
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Requirements:
- Growing relationship with Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior as an active member of PBC
- Previous retail management experience, preferably in a bookstore or Christian retail setting
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities effectively
- Passion for Christian products and a desire to promote resources that support spiritual growth
- Advanced computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with POS systems
- Flexibility to work a varied schedule, including Sundays and special events
- Ability to work at a desk with a computer screen for extended periods of time, occasionally perform physical activities that require moving one’s whole body, such as standing, walking, stooping, pushing/pulling a cart, and lifting up to 50 pounds without assistance
