Legal Assistant
Preti Flaherty, one of New England's largest law firms with offices in ME, NH, MA, and Washington, D.C., is seeking an experienced Legal Assistant to join the firm's dynamic and growing Litigation practice group. This position is based in our newly renovated headquarters in downtown Portland, ME, and offers an engaging roster of work on behalf of Preti's regional and national clients.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
Preti Flaherty's Legal Assistants play a key role in advancing the mission and goals of the Firm by providing key administrative and other support to their attorneys.
- Performs legal and social science research, drafts research memoranda, prepares court documents and correspondence, and proofreads and checks citations for complex legal documents.
- Performs regular administrative tasks such as coordinating meetings and travel, filing and maintaining records, scanning, copying, and preparing expense reports.
- The ideal candidate will be proactive, organized, and attentive to detail. The ability to work cooperatively in a team is essential. In addition will be able to read, analyze, interpret, and summarize legal and social science documents, including case law and statutes.
- Familiarity with the legal system is helpful but not required.
