Tuesday-Saturday schedule

Responsibilities :

  • Adheres to all safety, laboratory protocols, IT security, and HIPAA SOPs and policies.
  • Follows standards for specimen labeling and documentation and communicates issues with the supervisor.
  • Prepares patient samples for LC-MS / MS confirmation testing and immunoassay screening.
  • Maintains and operates equipment including Integra and Hamilton robotic liquid handlers.
  • Performs daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance for instruments including Agilent LC-MS / MS and Horiba Yumizen analyzers.
  • Properly stores samples, standards, QCs, reagents, and hazardous waste.
  • Verifies the expiration date of all reagents and ensures proper inventory is maintained.
  • Familiar with sample rejection criteria and rejection procedures.
  • Prepares all reagents, controls, and samples in accordance with the relevant SOPs.
  • Reviews and publishes patient screening and confirmation results in the LIS.
  • Performs new lot verifications for controls, calibrators, and internal standards in accordance with the relevant SOPs.
  • Applies corrective actions to failed QCs in LIS.
  • Communicates any process deviations to the supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Upholds the standards set by CAP, CLIA, and internal SOPs.
  • Conducts general laboratory housekeeping tasks including cleaning, organization, preventative maintenance, and process improvement projects as assigned.
  • Ensures timely completion of tasks assigned by the supervisor or lab manager.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor of Science in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, chemical, physical, or biological science OR Associate degree in chemical, physical / biological science, or medical laboratory, or equivalent education and training OR be an individual that performed high complexity testing on or before April 24th, 1995, with a high school diploma or equivalent. With documented training, can perform testing only for those tests with documented training dated prior to September 1st, 1997 OR be an individual previously qualified or could have qualified as a technologist under CFR.493.1489 and CFR.493.1491 on or before February 28th, 1992.
  • Work experience in a toxicology, clinical, or high complexity testing lab is preferred.
  • Work experience in a high-throughput testing lab is preferred.
  • Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality and adherence to HIPAA regulations.
  • Ability to listen, learn, and assume responsibility and accountability for all lab processes.
  • Able and willing to follow established protocols employing acceptable toxicology standards of analysis and the use of judgment in searching for solutions or new applications within one’s own experiences.
  • Must adhere to proper use of personal protective equipment while working in the laboratory.
  • Proficient in the use and operation of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Experience with CLIA, COLA, and CAP standards is preferred.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail are preferred.
  • Must be flexible, innovative, and self-motivated.

  • Position requires sitting, walking, reaching, bending, stooping, and handling objects with hands and / or fingers, talking and / or hearing, and seeing.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift 50-pound boxes.
  • Must be able to work on their feet for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to work in lab chairs for extended periods of time.
