BMD Joint Tactical Terminal SME

This position is contingent upon successful contract proposal submission and award. 

Prevailance is seeking an experienced and mission-focused professional to support Commander, Naval Surface Forces Pacific (CNSP) and Afloat Training Group Pacific (ATGPAC) as a Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD) Joint Tactical Terminal (JTT) Subject Matter Expert. This position emphasizes the importance of training and certification of ships in the Pacific Fleet, particularly focusing on the role of a Joint Tactical Terminal (JTT) Operator on an Aegis BMD platform.

The BMD JTT SME is critical for the effective training and operational readiness of the Pacific Fleet, particularly in the context of Aegis BMD operations. The ideal candidate should possess a solid background in tactical data link operations, combined with practical experience in training personnel and evaluating operational procedures. This position involves collaboration with multiple commands to ensure the fleet is prepared for immediate deployment, with a focus on maintaining high training standards and implementing best practices in combat systems operations. 

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:  

• Training and Certification:
  • Support the training and certification of all ships in the Pacific Fleet, particularly focusing on Aegis BMD operations.
• Operational Support:
  • Function as a qualified Joint Tactical Terminal (JTT) operator, ensuring effective management of tactical data links (TDLs) during BMD operations.
• TDL Planning and Implementation:
  • Develop and implement TDL plans to support BMD operations, exercises, and tests, ensuring reliable communication paths.
• Training and Evaluation:
  • Conduct BMD training and evaluations, participating as a member of the training team to enhance operational readiness.
• Quality Control and Data Analysis:
  • Assist in quality assurance and data analysis related to training standards and operational effectiveness.
• Systems Administration:
  • Support systems administration efforts associated with training programs, ensuring that training materials and resources are accurate and accessible.

Requirements

Experience:

• Surface Navy:
  • 2 years of surface navy experience as a qualified JTT operator on an Aegis BMD platform or an equivalent platform.
• TDL Development:
  • Experience developing and implementing TDL plans that support BMD operations, exercises, and tests.
• Tactical Data Communication:
  • Experience planning and implementing tactical data communication paths, including:
    • Line-of-Sight (LOS) Link 11(A)
    • LOS Link 16
    • Satellite-J
    • Joint Range Extension Protocol
    • SHF/EHF Multi-TDL-J
    • JTT
    • IBS-S/I
  • Instructor/trainer or operational experience aboard a BMD-configured Aegis ship or at a BMD command/agency.

Knowledge Areas:

• TDL Monitoring Systems:
  • In-depth knowledge of current TDL monitoring systems and troubleshooting techniques.
• BMD Tactics and Technical Systems:
  • Familiarity with BMD tactics, technical systems, and instructions, including requirements from the COMNAVSURFORINST 8820.2 series and related tactical memorandums.
• AEGIS Combat Systems:
  • Strong understanding of AEGIS Combat Systems, including its components and instructions.
• BMD Command and Control:
  • Knowledge of BMD Command and Control issues, specifically regarding surveillance, engagement, and planning functions required for various numbered fleets.

Security Clearance:

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance

Salary : $85,000 - $135,000
