Family Support Specialist - Home Visitor Tooele

Position: Home Visitor

Reports to: Home Visiting Program Supervisor

40 hr/week position

This is a Grant Funded Position working in Tooele County.

Job Summary: Work directly with families providing individualized and interactive instruction utilizing the Parents as Teachers (PAT), SafeCare, or Systematic Training for Effective Parenting (STEP) evidence-based curriculum. Home visits will take place in the client's home, at our offices, at places in the community or virtually, for the purpose of maintaining the family unit by reducing risk of abuse or neglect through assessment of strengths and needs, goal setting, education, and guided application of skills. Can read, write, speak, and understand both Spanish and English preferred.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent in early child education, social work, psychology or a related field required

A minimum of two years of previous work experience with young children and /or families

Ability to provide own transportation with a reliable vehicle

Ability to work at least one night a week as needed, and some Saturdays

Successfully pass a criminal history background check

Skills and Abilities Effective verbal, written and computer skills. Must be reliable, self-motivated, and have ability to work independently or as a team player. Must have a willingness to interact with families and professionals in the community. Familiarity with local community resources such as WIC. Ability to establish healthy professional boundaries. Experience practicing confidentiality according to HIPPA requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide personalized visits focused on parent-child interaction, development-centered parenting, and family well-being including planning, delivering and documenting the visit.

• Be sensitive to parental concerns and observations.

• Deliver home visiting program to fidelity.

• Respect family values by providing culturally competent services.

• Conduct assessments according to benchmarks and standards to identify risks.

• Provide information appropriate to available community resources. Make referrals and track connections of referrals to plan, implement and track family progress.

• Maintain appropriate and timely documentation of visits provided to assigned family and help facilitate quality management. Maintain and submit all required family and program documentation in a timely manner.

• Understand the essential elements of the SafeCare, Parents as Teachers and STEP Programs.

• Participate in monthly Group Connections with families.

• Actively recruit family participation in program.

• Participate in Prevent Child Abuse Utah annual events and fundraisers.

• Additional assignments and duties as requested.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $23.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 40 per week
