Our client base stretches throughout the South Bend and surrounding Michiana area including the state of Michigan, and involves local rescues.
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinarian to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to animal welfare and provide high-quality medical care to a variety of animals. Under the leadership of our Medical Director, tasks include anything from performing routine wellness exams and vaccines to medical illnesses, spay/neuter surgery, euthanasia, urgent care and prescribing appropriate medication when necessary. You will be working in a supportive environment that values teamwork and continuous learning.
Duties
- Our ideal candidate is compassionate, community-minded, and knowledgeable of most cutting-edge veterinary procedures, taking into account the whole health of the animal and with consideration of the owner.
- Conduct thorough examinations of animals to assess their health and diagnose medical conditions.
- Administer vaccinations, medications, and treatments as required.
- Perform surgical procedures with precision and care, ensuring the highest standards of aseptic technique.
- Maintain accurate medical records for each patient, documenting treatments and progress.
- Educate pet owners on proper care, nutrition, and preventive health measures.
- Collaborate with veterinary technicians and support staff to ensure efficient clinic operations.
- Stay current with advancements in veterinary medicine through continuous education and training.
- Be supportive of the mission and vision of Preventative Pet Health of Michiana, including the continued growth and development of the organization.
- Must be able to maintain a joyful, positive demeanor in a fast-paced, energetic environment.
- Experience will be highly regarded, but not required, as the practice owner/veterinarian will provide a high level of support and mentorship if desired
Experience
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an accredited veterinary school or have successfully passed the ECFVG program or the PAVE program.
- Candidates must be licensed/eligible for licensure to practice veterinary medicine in the State of Indiana.
- Experience in animal handling, including dogs and cats.
- Proficiency in laboratory procedures such as blood tests, urinalysis, and animal catheterization is advantageous.
- Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication with pet owners and team members.
Working Conditions
The Veterinarian will be responsible for standing and moving for several consecutive hours, bending, and lifting small to large animals. Veterinarians will at times be required to manage and physically restrain uncooperative, feral or aggressive animals. There is a potential for exposure to Rabies. For this reason, up-to-date vaccinations are strongly recommended. There is a potential for exposure to zoonotic diseases; as such, optimal health and cleanliness standards must be kept for both staff and patients.
We are a well equipped high-volume, veterinary practice. We possess full IDEXX in house diagnostics, an in house laboratory, provide in house and online pharmaceutical options, ultrasound, and surgical suite.
