COMPENSATION
Preventative Pet Health of Michiana offers competitive compensation and great benefits including paid sick/personal time, paid holidays, paid vacation time, uniform reimbursement, continuing education, medical reimbursement, pet medical reimbursement and paid production bonuses. Compensation for this position ranges from $15/hour - $19/hour, and is commensurate with experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential duties and responsibilities include providing top-notch customer service, being attentive to client and pet needs, working compassionately with clients in various emotional states, working patiently with distressed, frustrated, or disgruntled clients, answering and triaging phone calls, scheduling appointments and procedures, checking in/out clients, monitoring client flow from check-in to check-out, monitoring clinic schedule and flow, performing client call backs, managing record requests between other clinics and specialty practices, filling prescriptions, client education, assisting the doctors and other technicians/assistants with restraint, medical treatments/procedures, surgery, and other responsibilities according to individual abilities and training, assisting with cleaning-including but not limited to: keeping clinic areas clean and sanitary, taking out the trash and recycling, performing laundry duties, cleaning floors and exterior areas, bathrooms, exam rooms, and kennels if needed, processing payment transactions, maintaining proper documentation in the electronic medical record, relaying appropriate information to/from clients to doctors, technicians, and/or management.
BASIC COMPUTER SKILLS
Must be able to use Mac based computer systems, be familiar with word processing, email, web search, and other skills needed to effectively use the practice management software program.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The ideal candidate will be required to stand for long periods, and perform moderately heavy physical labor. They must be able to handle and restrain animals, and lift up to 40lbs unassisted.
CONTROLS OVER WORK
The Veterinary Assistant/Technician works under the supervision of the Technician Lead however, they will also receive direction from veterinarians, and management on a daily basis.

The ideal candidate must be capable of working in a very fast paced environment, possess good critical thinking and problem solving skills, be compassionate, have a positive attitude, with follow-through and excellent communication and teamwork skills. Multi-tasking and accepting constructive criticism is essential and punctuality is expected.
