Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced QA Lab Lead to oversee quality assurance activities for our cutting-edge Point-to-Point (PTP) and Point-to-Multipoint (PTMP) radio products utilizing WiFi and mmWave-based technologies. The QA Lab Lead will manage the QA lab operations, lead a team of QA engineers and technicians, and ensure rigorous testing and validation of wireless communication products to meet high standards of performance, reliability, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the QA lab team responsible for testing PTP and PTMP radio products based on WiFi (including WiFi 5/6/6E) and mmWave technologies (operating in 24 GHz to 71 GHz bands).
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive QA test plans, strategies, and procedures tailored to wireless radio products, including functional, performance, interoperability, and environmental testing.
- Oversee lab setup and maintenance of wireless test environments, including RF chambers, antenna arrays, and automated test equipment for mmWave and WiFi radios.
- Mentor and train QA team members on wireless protocols, test methodologies, and quality standards specific to PTP/PTMP and mmWave systems.
- Collaborate closely with R&D, product management, and manufacturing teams to ensure quality requirements are integrated throughout the product lifecycle.
- Monitor and report on QA metrics such as defect density, test coverage, and product reliability; provide actionable feedback to improve product quality and testing efficiency.
- Manage lab resources, including scheduling, equipment calibration, and procurement to support continuous testing operations.
- Lead root cause analysis and failure investigations for product defects and field issues related to wireless performance and compliance.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements relevant to wireless communication products.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives in QA processes, automation, and test coverage to support high-volume production and rapid product iterations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Science, or related technical field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in quality assurance or test engineering for wireless communication products, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
- Strong expertise in PTP and PTMP wireless systems, including WiFi (802.11ac/ax/ay) and mmWave technologies (24 GHz to 71 GHz spectrum). Past experience with testing PTP & PTMP based FWA products in WIFI Interop as well as TDMA/OFDMA mode will be considered a plus.
- Hands-on experience with wireless test equipment, RF test setups, and automated test frameworks.
- Deep understanding of wireless & IP Networking protocols, RF performance metrics, and interference mitigation techniques.
- Proven ability to develop and execute complex test plans for wireless hardware and firmware, along with strong skills in Linux/Shell/Python Scripting.
- Experience managing and mentoring QA teams, with excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Familiarity with test management tools (e.g., JIRA, Quality Center) and data analysis/reporting tools.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of regulatory standards for wireless devices (FCC, ETSI, etc.) is a plus.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with mmWave phased array antenna testing and integration.
- Background in software automation for wireless testing
- Familiarity with production test methodologies for high-volume 5/6GHz and mmWave device manufacturing.
- Understanding of IoT and fixed wireless access (FWA) applications.
Reporting
This position reports to the QA Manager or Director of Quality Assurance.
