Location : Concord, NC 28025
Job Type : Temporary / Contract
Duration : 12 Weeks (starting at the end of March)
Hours : Monday – Thursday 8 AM – 5 PM (36 hours per week)
Pay Rate : $45-$50 / hr.
Job Description :
As a certified advanced practice provider, you will provide acute care services and chronic disease management to patients seen at the organization.
Clients that the APP will see range in age from 18 to 100 years old.
The most common problems noted include but are not limited to urinary tract infections, depression, hypertension, diabetes, obesity, dyslipidemia, upper respiratory infections, COPD, bronchitis, asthma, etc.
The APP shall order and interpret laboratory and radiological studies, analyze all patient data, and develop a treatment plan for the patient.
The APP will initiate treatment or be sure that treatment plan is carried out, assess the progress, and alter the plan as necessary.
The APP may order, prescribe, dispense, and administer non-controlled substances / drugs, medical devices, diagnostic and therapeutic medical regimens as designated by the Supervising MD.
The APP shall refer patients to specialists and / or the Supervising MD when appropriate.
Medical Encounter Guidelines : As part of the medical encounter, the APP will :
Gather data including medical history, physical examination, order laboratory, or radiological tests.
Analyze and synthesize data.
Develop a treatment plan and prescribe medication of non-controlled substances. In the case that controlled substances are deemed appropriate for treatment, the APP will refer patients to Supervising MD.
Treat the patient based on acceptable standards of care.
Assess the progress of treatment and alter the plan as necessary.
Document the encounter in the electronic medical record (EMR)
Complete additional paperwork as needed by the patient and condition.
Provide treatment of acute and chronic illnesses, preventative care, and health education for all patients between the ages of 18-100 years old.
Provide emergency treatment and notify Supervising MD and / or send to ED as needed.
Clinical Procedures Permitted include :
ECG.
Application of dressing and bandages.
Visual screening (Snellen).
Incision and drainage with the use of local anesthetic if needed.
Ear irrigation.
PAP smear.
Wet mount and microscopic examination of specimens.
Breathing treatment with albuterol / ipratropium or combination solution.
Skin tag removal.
Simple laceration repair.
Cryotherapy for wart removal.
Dispense oral medications in house as needed, including pharmaceutical samples.
Eye irrigation.
In-House labs to include : glucose fingerstick, breath test for H. pylori, mono spot, rapid strep, influenza test, HbAlC, urine micro-albumin, wet mount for trichomoniasis and candidiasis, urine drug screen, urine pregnancy test, and stool guaiac.
Once instructed, administration of IM medications : Toradol, prednisone, Phenergan,
Benadryl, hydroxyzine, vitamin B12, and Depo-Provera.
In addition, the APP may :
Provide counseling and instructions regarding common patient problems
Execute and relay medical regimens to patients
Sign for and distribute pharmaceutical samples
Give written or oral orders
Prescribe and dispense only non-controlled substances
Prescribe and dispense pharmaceutical aids and devices
Primary supervision will be performed with personal contact whenever possible. When the Supervising MD is unavailable, access via telecommunication is always available.
Compensation / Pay Rate (Up to) : $45.00 - $50.00
