Job Summary :
We are seeking a skilled Torque Converter & Transmission Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience diagnosing, repairing, rebuilding, and installing torque converters and transmissions for various vehicles and heavy equipment. This role requires mechanical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities :
Diagnose, disassemble, inspect, and repair torque converters and transmissions.
Identify faults, wear, and damages in torque converter components and transmission systems.
Rebuild torque converters, including replacing clutches, bearings, stators, and seals.
Perform transmission overhauls, including replacing worn parts and reassembling units.
Conduct performance testing to ensure proper functionality of rebuilt transmissions.
Utilize diagnostic tools to assess transmission and torque converter issues.
Maintain a clean and organized work area, following safety guidelines and procedures.
Work with service advisors and customers to explain repairs and provide recommendations.
Stay updated on new technologies and industry best practices.
Qualifications :
High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification in automotive repair is preferred.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in torque converter and transmission repair.
Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
Experience with automatic and manual transmissions is a plus.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
Familiarity with diagnostic tools and software.
Physical ability to lift heavy components and work in a shop environment.
Attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship.
Preferred Skills :
ASE certification in transmission repair (preferred but not required).
Experience with commercial or heavy-duty vehicle transmissions.
Welding and machining experience related to torque converters.
