Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant with a strong background in corporate accounting, with overlap in sales and use tax, lease accounting, personal property tax, treasury, and tax insurance accounting. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with relevant tax laws, handling complex tax-related issues, and supporting accounting functions across various areas within the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Sales & Use Tax Compliance:
- Manage and ensure compliance with sales and use tax regulations.
- Prepare and file sales and use tax returns accurately and on time.
- Research and apply tax laws to assess the company’s tax obligations.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure proper tax accounting practices.
Lease Accounting:
- Oversee accounting for leases in compliance with IFRS 16/ASC 842 standards.
- Ensure proper classification of lease liabilities and assets in financial statements.
- Support internal teams in interpreting lease contracts and assessing accounting impacts.
Treasury & Tax Insurance Accounting:
- Assist in preparing tax provision workpapers related to treasury functions.
General Corporate Accounting Support:
- Ensure compliance with financial reporting standards and contribute to quarterly and year-end closing processes.
- Assist in internal and external audits, providing required documentation and supporting schedules.
- Assist with internal controls, process improvements, and accounting policy updates.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or equivalent certification preferred.
- 5 years of experience in corporate accounting, with a strong focus on tax compliance (sales and use tax, property tax, lease accounting).
- Solid understanding of corporate tax laws and financial reporting standards.
- Experience with accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and departments.
Additional Preferred Skills:
- Experience with tax technology tools.
- Knowledge of international tax issues and cross-border taxation.
- Strong Excel skills for data analysis and reporting.
