Position Overview
The primary focus of the Director of Engineering - Regional Water Lead will oversee the coordination and execution of civil engineering tasks relating to water/wastewater projects, mostly for local government projects. A team of other engineers and specialists will lean on you to provide guidance and resource planning for the projects, but they literally and figuratively know how to go with the flow. Along with ensuring the projects are completed on time and consistent with the plan, you'll also have to watch over the budgetary constraints on the project to ensure we aren't losing revenue. Fortunately, we have a remarkable team, so most of your time as a supervisor will be focused on job optimization and professional development. We'll challenge you to create bench strength and maximize the potential of each member of the team.
Another component of the job is new business development. This role will identify potential clients, develop appropriate relationships with those clients, and unlock opportunities for the business. In time, those opportunities will turn into projects, which you'll again oversee and ensure we are successful at executing.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide oversight and technical guidance for multiple tasks and projects related to water resource projects.
- Support business development of future pursuits and client management for water resource and environmental projects.
- Successfully manage and deliver projects on time and on budget, while meeting quality requirements.
- Prepare and monitor project budgets and variances.
- Regularly develop and evaluate project plans.
- Assess the feasibility and soundness/validity of proposed engineering evaluations, when necessary data are insufficient.
- Implement company quality control procedures on all projects.
- Conduct peer reviews and make technical presentations.
- Identify potential clients and project opportunities.
- Serve as supervisor for staff direct reports and mentor junior staff providing guidance and support in their professional development within the field of water resources engineering.
- Communication with clients and project team.
Minimum Requirements:
- B.S. Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field.
- Registered as Professional Engineer in KY or IN, or ability to obtain so within 6 months.
- 10 year's Engineering experience, specific to Water, wastewater, and/or drainage.
- Experience as Design or Task Manager for projects, preferably related to civil engineering.
- Ability to travel to the Louisville office frequently for project and staffing needs.
