Resident Service Coordinator
Overview of Prime Community Housing Development: Serving the Mid-Atlantic and Midwest, Petersburg Community Development Corporation (PCDC) is a non-profit organization that builds affordable housing communities and offers social services through its Resident Service Department, which is designed to assist residents in overcoming barriers and be able to thrive.
Position Summary: Prime CHD is seeking a Resident Service Coordinator (RSC) responsible for planning on-site services, programs, and activities that support residents' independence and overcome challenges to meet their individual and family goals. This position provides resources that enhance residents' quality of life and helps manage outstanding communities for our residents. The RSC will support multiple affordable housing communities within the Hampton Roads area.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Research, identify, and link/refer residents to local resources, which include but are not limited to rental assistance, transportation, adult education, childcare, health services, employment assistance, SSI, Medicare, SNAP, prescription drug assistance, senior services and all pertinent services that would benefit our communities/residents.
· Manage, coordinate, and maintain regular contact with residents primarily through face-to-face, phone, or video meetings.
· Compile information and eligibility requirements of local and city-wide resources.
· Work closely with Property Management staff to identify specific supportive needs related to lease violations and household housing stability. This includes locating, coordinating, and monitoring necessary and appropriate services for residents with these service needs.
· Implement on-site programs and activities in partnership with community-based organizations.
· Work collaboratively with residents to create opportunities for residents to build trust and a strong sense of community cohesiveness.
· Create monthly calendars of programs and activities, produce outreach flyers and newsletters to keep residents informed.
· Maintain thorough resident files on all work performed, follow up, and document electronically the intervention.
· Collaborate with colleagues to track and evaluate key performance indicators and outcomes of programs and services.
· Research best practices and develop innovative ideas to implement at the property.
· Participate in all required training to ensure professional growth.
· Other duties as assigned.
Skills Required: Excellent written and verbal communication skills; excellent interpersonal skills; strong organizational, analytical, and problem resolution skills; ability to work independently and as a team; ability to be flexible and adapt to changing priorities; ability to multi-task; knowledge of referral processes; knowledge of local community resources; sensitivity to issues pertaining to at-risk individuals and communities; friendly and approachable demeanor; and proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and the Internet.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work/Human Services with 3 years of experience providing direct service in a private or non-profit social service organization OR 4 years equivalent work experience providing direct service in a private or non-profit social service organization; knowledgeable of referral process and working knowledge of local services to support residents; and able to work with diverse populations.
Preferred Education and Experience Requirements: Master's Degree in Social Work/Human Services with 2 years of experience providing direct service in a private or non-profit social service organization; knowledgeable of referral process and working knowledge of local services; and able to work with diverse populations.
Essential Functions: Ability to sit and to stand for a minimum of two (2) hours; ability to climb stairs. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
Must be able to legally drive.
