What are the responsibilities and job description for the Special Needs Camp Counselor~ M-F Day Hours position at Prime Home Developmental Disabilities Services?
We are now accepting applications for our 2025 Summer Day Camp!
Are you interested in making a difference in our community while having fun? If your answer is a resounding "Yes!" then Prime Home Developmental Disability Services is looking for enthusiastic counselors to join our summer program for teens and young adults aged 13-20 with developmental and intellectual disabilities. Our summer day camp is located in Papillion.
Counselors will work hands-on with participants in a variety of activities, providing a safe and enjoyable environment that encourages exploration of new experiences. Our camp activities include, but are not limited to, field trips, soccer, softball, games, and arts and crafts in a traditional summer camp setting.
Counselors will assist with daily living activities, provide behavioral support and intervention, and help participants achieve their individual program goals and personal achievements.
**Requirements:**
- Employment can start earlier and continue throughout the year.
- Availability from approximately 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday to Friday.
- Current valid driver’s license.
- Ability to pass background checks.
- Capacity to build trusted relationships.
- Exhibit a positive role model image by always displaying an upbeat, cooperative, and friendly attitude.
- Be a problem-solver while knowing when to ask for help.
- Be punctual, organized, and able to follow directions while assisting and caring for all participants’ needs.
- Meet the physical requirements of working outdoors in varying temperatures and weather conditions, including lifting up to 20 lbs., pushing wheelchairs, walking, standing, running, climbing, and maintaining visual supervision of clients.
**Desired Qualifications:**
- Personal or formal experience working with individuals with autism, developmental disabilities, or intellectual disabilities.
