Shop foreman

Overview

The Trailer and Reefer Tech Foreman is responsible for communicating to the techs the direction of Prime and our shops, run their shift / department as a business, keep moral high, leading, assigning work, and mentoring mechanics under their supervision.

Must also be able to perform as a working foreman, setup and operate a variety of machine tools, and fit and assemble parts to fabricate or repair and maintain commercial trailers by performing the following duties :

Responsibilities

• Effectively communicate the details of the direction of Prime and the shop and why any changes are being made.
• Be able to run the shop as a business. Know the expenses of the shop and the revenue to the shop and what those means.

Then communicate it with the Associates you are responsible for.

• Effectively keep morale high
• Supervises the maintenance and repair of Prime trailers and reefer units.
• Assigns repair orders with an understanding of Standard Repair Times.
• Offers coaching to technicians on best practices for incentive earnings and has a full understanding of the Prime incentive program.
• Keep up to date with Prime training requirements.
• Cooperates with shop management to implement policies and / or communicate changes in processes.
• Maintains a working shop that is compliant with OSHA best practices / requirements and provides a safe working environment free of unreasonable hazards.
• Maintains an inventory of all Prime assets and systems to accurately track part inventory, part installations, warranty work, and repairs.
• Assist drivers with any questions regarding the operation or maintenance of Prime assets via phone call, conversation, email, or Qualcomm messages.
• Dismantles machine or equipment to examine parts for defect or remove defective part.
• Assembles and test operates machine to verify correction or malfunction.
• Maintains and lubricates machine tools and equipment.
• Cleans tools and working areas
• Performs other routine duties
• Applicant must be able to lift 100lbs, carry 50lbs and push / pull 50lbs.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED :

Any combination of education, training, and experience providing the following knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Knowledge

Candidates must be willing and able to implement Prime’s direction and culture in the shop environment.

Abilities

Strong organizational, computer, and customer service skills required. Accurate typing up to 40 WPM. Multitasking and a flexible schedule required.

Some weekend work will be necessary for this position.

Experience, Education, and Training

A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited University in a Business or related field is preferred; or one to three years related experience and / or training;

or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Physical Requirements

This position requires being able to sit and remain focused and motivated for long periods of time. Being able to multitask between the computer, phone, and different projects is required.

The position does require the physical ability to lift, carry, and push / pull the weights listed under the Responsibilities section.

Candidate must be able to pass a post-offer job specific physical.

Steel toed footwear, and safety glasses are required in the shop.

Licensing / Certification

Must have a valid license and a clean driving record. Must also have a Freon certification or the ability to attain one soon after hire.

Candidate must also have reliable transportation to and from work.
