Job Description:
The Field Technician reports to and is responsible for assisting the Construction Manager with the site visits prior to maintenance or construction activities. Field Technician will provide asset condition information and recommendations for completion of the project(s). Additionally, they will aid in meeting the timelines and budget objectives with the respect to communication, scheduling, designs, estimating, bidding, and coordination with key stakeholders.

Primary Duties:
- Observe safety regulations
- Identifies, wears and /or uses all appropriate equipment required to safely perform the job
- Inspect and coordinate the job site start and completion date
- Check the layout in accordance with print specifications
- Verify the material used
- Ensure the most efficient use of manpower and equipment
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations
- Ensure compliance with permit conditions and environmental regulations
- Verify compliance with specifications, standards, and procedures
- Coordinate and report progress of work as efficiently as possible until completion of job
- Provide a thorough site inspection or preconstruction meeting generally scheduled within 48 hours after customers' initial contact
- Check preliminary prints or Structural Facility Drawings carefully to be sure the customers installation designs have been approved by the company
- Provide the inspection necessary to ensure compliance with drawings and approved specifications
- Maintain communication with the site supervisor to coordinate future inspections
- Always require the customer to build conduit installation in compliance with specifications
- Refer all notable discrepancies to the applicable engineer or supervisor
- Provide a timely completion installation
- Certify all installations
Position Requirements:
Minimum:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail and multitasking skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite products.
- Knowledge and ability to apply problem solving approaches and engineering theories.
- Knowledge of engineering with regulations, guides, standards, codes, methods, and practices necessary to perform assignments for a specific discipline, various installation, or services.
- Demonstrated knowledge of operating and construction work practices.
- Demonstrated ability to support and enforce a safe work behavior; requires working knowledge of safety rules and regulations.
- Knowledge, understanding, and experience of Electric Utility Engineering practices.
- Ability to independently represent the Company in various industry, regulatory forums, and stakeholder meetings.
- Ability to perform highly complex analysis; formulate recommendations to improve current processes; make sound decisions; understand industry and regulatory trends; evaluate impact of new developments and information involving market conditions.
- Experience Processing permit applications by accepting the application, checking for accuracy and completeness, receipting it in, calculating fees, routing to appropriate review staff, monitoring application progress for status reports, and preparing plans and permits for issuance; issues simple, routine permits within scope of authority and responsibility assigned.
- Experienced in the drafting, editing and interpreting studies for the development, submission and acquisition of certificates to build or other regulatory filings.
- Ability and willingness to work overtime, holidays and weekends as required.
- Ability and willingness to adhere to Federal, State, Local and company safety regulations and policies. Ability and willingness to perform physical tasks for extended periods of time (for example, lifting, entering/existing manhole covers, climbing ladders and scaffolding, bending, twisting, kneeling, crawling, pulling/pushing, standing, walking, and squatting).
- Ability and willingness to work in a variety of work environments including outdoors in all weather conditions, on or around energized equipment, in confined spaces, underground, in heavy traffic and in noisy and dirty environments with proper Personal Protective Equipment.
- Ability and willingness to travel to various Company locations and work sites.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
- Must pass the Criminal History Background Check which consists of a 7-year criminal record for felony convictions.
- Must successfully pass a medical screening to include a drug test.
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
- 1-3 years of internal utility company experience or equivalent experience, including advance degree achievements.
- 1-3 years of experience obtaining Regulatory Permits with state, federal and municipal agencies to achieve permits to meet project goals and execution schedules.
- Project Exposure to project management principles and methodology
- Proven working experience in project management.
- Project Management Professional (PMP).
- Experience with Primavera P6.
- Experience with Microsoft Project.
- Experience with AutoCAD and/or design software.
- Experience with Redwave
- Experience with GIS/GWD
- Experience with AS8 (Asset Suite 8)
