Position Summary: The Mortgage Processor is responsible for evaluating, authorizing approval or denying applications for people or businesses. The Mortgage Processor will act as the liaison between potential clients and our growing financial institution by researching credit records, determining client needs and recommending the best loan products for the loan package. The goal is to help eligible applicants obtain loans in a timely and professional manner while protecting our institution's credibility. For those clients undergoing financial hardship, mortgage processors help with determining ratios and metrics to set up debt payment plans.
Primary Duties
- Comply with industry-related regulations, requirements and state/federal laws as applicable to the job duties of this position.
- Interview applicants, research applicant credit status and current financial position to evaluate their eligibility for a mortgage loan.
- Identify and recommend products that meets the customer’s needs and the originations leading guidelines.
- Conclude on all applicable financial and non-financial criteria and development loan repayment plans.
- Collect and prepare all necessary documentation for the loan package. Checks documents for proper vesting, legal descriptions, closing dates and signatures.
- Finalize loan contracts and keep clients informed in rules and obligations.
- Remain up to speed regarding lending and other financial services.
- Submit files to the designated Underwriter.
- Completes all required disclosure/verifications during the mortgage application and underwriting process.
- Follow-up with clients to verify important information
- Regular and sustained attendance.
- Follow all bank and regulatory compliance related policies and procedures; including Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering, reporting suspicious activity to the BSA Officer and additional BSA job functions as required by job.
- Maintain compliance with and adhere to all state and federal regulations and bank policies and procedures, including, but not limited to Bank Secrecy Act, FACT ACT, Community Reinvestment Act, and EEO/AA/Fair Employment Practices.
- Regular, reliable and predictable attendance.
Minimum Educational & Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business, banking, or finance preferred.
- Required to possess all applicable licenses.
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Mortgage Processor or similar role.
- In-depth knowledge of closing procedures, loan processes, and documentation.
- High level of understanding of current regulatory requirements affecting mortgage loans

- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Physical Demands
In terms of an 8-hour workday, “occasional” equals 1% to 33%, “frequent” equals 34% to 66%, and “continuous” equals 67% to 100%.
