Job Description Summary
Responsible for design, development and facilitation of learning and developmental experiences to achieve departmental and/or divisional outcomes. When divisional support is requested provides service to Finance, Teaching Learning and Student Success, Policy and Office of the General Council and Equity Culture and Talent. This position identifies and develops interpersonal and work skills of employees that support the desired outcomes of the unit and/or division where they are employed. This position works closely with departmental leadership and labor relations liaisons to ensure that learning experiences are tied to the organizational goals and objectives and are based upon a model of continuous process improvement. Services may include development of programs, formal training classes, inter-departmental learning and innovative ways to grow and develop employees.

Physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office related equipment, such as, but not limited to a, personal computer, calculator, copier, and fax machine. No significant climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions.

- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Training & Development, Organizational Development, Organizational Behavior or related field
- Four years of experience in training and development or related field
- Master’s degree preferred

Essential Duties
- Designs and facilitates learning experiences that ensure development of managers and employees of the college community.
- Identifies and implements methods that focus on growth and development of employees and fosters employee retention and succession management for hard to fill positions. Shares information with other members of the POD /Labor Relations team.
- Provides recommendations on design, implementation and analysis of the training and development needs assessment.
- Provides input on key learning initiatives for budget and financial considerations.
- Upon completion of any training or coaching certification will work with identified managers or teams to improve or implement communication and/or management behaviors.
- Identifies, recommends and facilitates strategies, and plans for college-wide professional development for faculty and staff. Uses innovative methods for the identification of growth and development for hard to fill positions. Ensures that managers and leaders are informed of best practices to retain and develop high performing employees
- Manages the maintenance of the Learning Management System ( LMS ) and obtains support from other members of POD and Labor Relations team when needed.
- Works closely with the senior director and POD /Labor Relations team to ensure that classes designed based upon information from external departments are used in learning experiences for managers and staff.
- Is knowledgeable of the how external vendors are selected and assigned to work with internal departments and to provide services that cannot provide due to scheduling or content desired.
- Ensures that programs and learning experiences are designed based upon the needs of the college and in alignment with the strategic goals, objectives and core commitments of the college.
- Promotes the Professional Development and Labor Relations program(s) internally and externally as appropriate.
- Supports other Professional and Organizational Development and Labor Relations programs as needed.
- Assumes other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE , SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Strong knowledge of higher education professional development, and application of management and leadership behaviors supportive of college initiatives.
- Knowledge of organizational development in higher education with an emphasis on continuous process improvement and performance management.
- Ability to use Microsoft Office and presentation equipment
- Ability to use Microsoft SharePoint for maintaining the portal site
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
- Good judgment and initiative, and ability to work independently
- Ability to prioritize workflow
- Ability to develop and design professional development activities
- Ability to skilled in data gathering, compilation, formatting and presentation.
