The Prince George's County Government Department of Health seeks qualified applicants to fill an Accreditation Coordinator position, grade G27, within its Office of Assessment & Planning.
About the Position
This is senior-level professional and administrative position that will support agency accreditation efforts. The incumbent performs a variety of detail-oriented tasks and planning activities that require high levels of organization and critical thinking. Specific responsibilities include creating and maintaining a timeline for the accreditation process, collecting and submitting all required paperwork, facilitating team meetings, educating staff and providing trainings related to accreditation, providing guidance relating to key agency plans, and reporting on progress and milestones within the agency and to stakeholders. Work assignments performed with some level of independent judgement and initiative, within the scope set by the Office of Assessment and Planning and in alignment with agency goals. Work is performed under general supervision from the office of assessment and planning, and performance is evaluated in terms of its overall progress toward accreditation goals. This position can largely be performed remotely (per incumbent eligibility).

- Performs duties related to Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB) Accreditation process.
- Provides guidance and context expertise in PHAB standards & measures.
- Conducts assessments on the departments readiness to seek accreditation and to progress through the process.
- Completes online orientations and trainings.
- Supports staff in creating/updating key plans and ensuring plans meet PHAB requirements, including agency strategic plan, quality improvement plan, community health improvement plan, emergency preparedness plan, and workforce development plan.
- Provides trainings and education related to PHAB and the 10 essential public health services, and how they relate to the agency's mission, vision, and values.
- Creates timelines and action plans for the accreditation process, including site visit, annual reports, and reaccreditation.
- Creates and maintains a process for collecting, reviewing, and submitting all required documentation, as well as tracking progress.
- Facilitates team meetings with agency leadership and domain champions regarding PHAB projects, processes, and progress.
- Gives presentations and creates reports on PHAB progress both internally and to stakeholders.
- Performs other duties as assigned including but not limited to emergency response, special projects and/or programs that are consistent with the mandates of the Health Department.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in business or public administration, urban and regional planning, environmental studies, economics, energy policy, urban studies, housing and community development, public health or closely related field.
- Three (3) years or more of responsible professional planning/program development experience in the area of assignment.
- One (1) year of lead/supervisory experience.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in public health or related field.
- Experience with PHAB accreditation.
- Knowledge of quality improvement/performance management.

General Plan Information:
The Prince George’s County benefits plan year is from January 1 to December 31.
A spouse (to include a same sex spouse) can be added to the health benefit plans. A marriage certificate and social security number is required to add a spouse.
Children under the age of 26 are eligible for coverage under the health benefit plans. This includes stepchildren and children of the same-sex spouse. A birth certificate(s) and social security number(s) is required to add a child(ren). If you are only adding the stepchildren or child(ren) of a same-sex spouse, you will need to submit a marriage certificate. You will also need to submit the birth certificate of the child(ren) and your spouse must be listed as a parent.
The premiums for health benefits are deducted on a pre-tax basis with the exception of Long-Term Disability, Extra Life Insurance and Voluntary Benefits (Short-Term Disability, Whole Life Insurance, Critical Illness, Accident Insurance, Cancer Indemnity, Hospital Indemnity Protection, Accident Indemnity Plan, Supplemental Dental and Group Legal Services).
New employees must enroll in the County’s health benefit plans within thirty (30) days of the hire date.
The effective date of the health benefits coverage is the beginning of the month following a waiting period of forty-five (45) days from the date of hire.
After enrolling in the County’s benefit plans, employees may only make changes to the plans either during the open enrollment period, which occurs annually (usually each October), and/or during the year, due to a family status change (i.e., marriage, births, divorce and adoption).
