The Prince George’s County Department of The Environment is currently seeking qualified applicants to fill a Foster/Rescue Coordinator, grade A05/A07, in the Animal Services Division.
About the Position
This is an entry performance level rescue/foster coordinator position working in animal management. Work assignments are performed under the general supervision of a higher-level administrative manager.
About the Agency
Examples of Work
- The incumbent assists and coordinates foster/rescue procedures to match potential foster/rescue agents with animals.
- Responsible for facilitating foster care orientations and managing case files.
- Communicates with staff regarding animals scheduled to transition to foster/rescue organizations.
- Notifies foster/rescue agents of the final disposition of animals.
- Prepares and enters foster/rescue agents' and animals' information in computer database.
- Assists foster/rescue agents with adoption contracts when they wish to take an animal in.
- Schedule animals for immunizations and ensures all paperwork is completed timely and accurately.
Qualifications
- Completion of the tenth (10th) school grade.
- Residence in the geographic area of work assignment.
- Demonstrated interest in civic or community affairs.
- Possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
- One (1) year of experience working with animals in a professional capacity.
- High School diploma or G.E.D.
- One (1) year of experience working in a customer service role.
- One (1) year of experience in inspection and code enforcement work to ensure compliance with animal control codes, ordinances, and standards.
