The Prince George's County Office of Homeland Security is currently seeking qualified applicants to fill a Cybersecurity Preparedness Planner III
Planner 3G) , grade G24, in the Office of the Director.
THIS IS A LIMITED TERM TEMPORARY GRANT FUNDED POSITION WITH SOME BENEFITS. BENEFITS MAY VARY FROM POSTED.
About the Position
This is advanced professional and technical work for cyber security and preparedness, response and recovery coordination, and consequence management analysis for critical infrastructure. The incumbent serves as a subject matter expert in conducting broad or specific cyber security risk analysis coordinating with County and State for external factor incident response. Supports OHS agency programs, projects, and activities related to the agency's overall mission. This is an essential employee position.
About the Agency
The Office of Homeland Security (OHS) was developed as a result of legislation passed in 2003. This new agency incorporated critical emergency response entities that were previously part of other agencies. Public Safety Communications (PSC), which included all County 9-1-1, emergency dispatch and radio system support, had been part of the Office of Information Technology and Communications (OITC). The Office of Emergency Management (OEM) was a division of the Fire / EMS Department. OEM and PSC were combined under the leadership of the Deputy Chief Administrative Officer for Public Safety / Director of Homeland Security, forming the Office of Homeland Security. The legislation and resulting changes to the Charter, spelled out the separate and distinct missions assigned to OEM and PSC.
Examples of Work
- Coordinates and participates with the Office of Information Technology (OIT) Chief Information Security Office (CISO) office in conducting specified cyber vulnerability tests and assessments, and the intersection with State systems.
- Conducts and coordinates the development and execution of cyber training and cyber related exercises.
- Works with agencies to determine acceptable levels of risk and security implications of new external and utilitysystems using automation and the internet technology uses being considered.
- Provides assistance and information regarding compliance with relevant IT security programs, protective measures,and mitigation strategies.
- Participates in State cyber preparedness and cyber planning; use and / or develops cyber planning templates or guides.
- Supports Regional Cyber Security Preparedness activities.
- Reviews threat analysis information, conducts risk analysis, develops cyber plans, and performs related cyber securitypreparedness tasks.
- Develop, maintain, and as appropriate, implements the Cyber Security guidance within Response and Recovery Plans.
- Liaison and Preparedness Specialist for OHS regarding cyber consequence management and cyber preparedness.
- Prepares and creates regular statistical and status reports to document cyber events / security breaches, improvements made, and mitigation.
- Perform other tasks and duties assigned, which may not be specifically listed in the position description; however, they are within the general occupational category and responsibility level associated with the employee's work class.

General Plan Information :
The Prince George's County benefits plan year is from January 1 to December 31.
A spouse (to include a same sex spouse) can be added to the health benefit plans. A marriage certificate and social security number is required to add a spouse.
Children under the age of 26 are eligible for coverage under the health benefit plans. This includes stepchildren and children of the same-sex spouse. A birth certificate(s) and social security number(s) is required to add a child(ren). If you are only adding the stepchildren or child(ren) of a same-sex spouse, you will need to submit a marriage certificate. You will also need to submit the birth certificate of the child(ren) and your spouse must be listed as a parent.
The premiums for health benefits are deducted on a pre-tax basis with the exception of Long-Term Disability, Extra Life Insurance and Voluntary Benefits (Short-Term Disability, Whole Life Insurance, Critical Illness, Accident Insurance, Cancer Indemnity, Hospital Indemnity Protection, Accident Indemnity Plan, Supplemental Dental and Group Legal Services).
New employees must enroll in the County's health benefit plans within thirty (30) days of the hire date.
The effective date of the health benefits coverage is the beginning of the month following a waiting period of forty-five (45) days from the date of hire.
After enrolling in the County's benefit plans, employees may only make changes to the plans either during the open enrollment period, which occurs annually (usually each October), and / or during the year, due to a family status change (i.e., marriage, births, divorce and adoption).
